I am William Harkins from Rockport, TX. Hired this company after Harvey, big mistake. When they finished the roof leaked after the first rain and they had to repair the ceiling damage. They had a painter come in and he was worse then the roofers. Had to repair some of the wall paint because he did so poorly on the ceiling repair. The wall paint didn't match. They made the repair to the roof and it leaked on the next rain we had. Called them a number of times and they don't want to hear from me. When they did answer they did schedule a guy to come look at the damage and he never showed up. I would avoid them at all cost!!!!

We have a contract with Star1 signed and dated November 1, 2017. They put on a new roof and it looks good. They have more work to do on their contract with us but understandably will not work until they have the first payment. We waited and waited for them to send an inspector out so that we could ensure that it was certified by TWIA. The roof was completed November 12. We have called Star1 numerous times to see about the inspection since then. Finally, I found out who the inspector was and called them myself only to find out that the inspection was completed on Saturday, January 20, 2018. I called Elmer, the project manager, to let him know that we are certified and he was floored that they just completed the inspection. I told him that we would have the first payment on Saturday, January 27 for him and told him the amount. He said that it was incorrect and now is changing his tune about the contract and what everything will cost. I told him that we all agreed and signed the contract and even have emails stating that he was okay with the contract. He called me back and said that he has $60,000 worth of work in our house and that he would not accept the first payment. Now he and John Herring, the owner will not return our calls. Elmer sought us out on a Saturday after Hurricane Harvey and came into our home and walked through and said they could fix everything we set forth in the contract for the price we got from TWIA. He also promised that he was going to get us more money for more damage that he “discovered.” But we were not counting on that. We wanted to fix the damage in the contract. I know that everyone wants their home returned to them in good shape, but I feel that Elmer, John and Star1 has over promised and will certainly under deliver. According to our contract, they should be at least 2/3 finished by January 31, but that is hard to do when you take off 6-8 weeks during the holidays. Elmer has also bragged on how many projects they have down here and said that one home repair in Key Allegro will cost them $1.3 million instead of the $1.6 million they will be getting. This is just not right. Anyone else have these issues? I did not want to post this on Facebook, however, we had tried to contact them with no response. If John, Elmer or someone from Star1 will contact us to discuss, we might consider amending this post and review. Next stop BBB.
