I know this is a long review but trust me you'll want to read the entire thing before using this company. We used this business over a year ago to pack and move our house from Iron Station to Denver, NC. I have been waiting since then for a response concerning the damage done to multiple pieces of furniture as well as items packed and waited to post this review in the hopes they would make good on the issues. They attempted to charge us almost $2,000 over what our estimate was despite many, many reassurances by the employee that he was over quoting. One of their employees that packed us also stated that they had us being charged for more weight than what he estimated to actually be. In addition we packed 4 rooms, in their entirety, prior to their arrival and everything moved into the new house was loaded into a box truck or stacked in the basement and living room so they didn't even have to set things up in the house. To say they were unprofessional is a gross understatement. There was a pile of cigarette butts left on my porch, trash from their lunch left around the house including a spilled drink that no one bothered to clean. They asked 100 times over about what should be moved and what shouldn't and in the end left countless things they were supposed to take but took a gun safe filled with weapons that they were explicitly told to leave. They wandered the house cussing, taking multiple smoke breaks and making inappropriate statements to my teenagers regarding the contents of boxes that were already packed and they chose to open. Their packing was a joke as well. Things from the top of the dresser were thrown into a box with clothes from drawers that were also haphazardly thrown into large wardrobe boxes. Shoes were thrown into a large wardrobe box along with multiple designer purses that were all dented and deformed when we unpacked. We have 3 leather sofas that were scratched in multiple places, chairs from a table set that are chipped, 2 dressers that were cracked, a lamp that was thrown into the back of the truck and was dented as well as covered in grease stains, and the list goes on. In addition we are missing a mirror and a large container filled with change and bills that we've been collecting since our son was born. When I reached out to them they were not concerned nor responsive. This was the worst experience I have ever had with a moving company and can not fathom how they are in business with practices such as this.

Our experience...not even worth 1 star. Sam came out and was very friendly and provided the quote in a timely manner. However, there was a lot of confusion about the move and 1/2 was going into storage and 1/2 was going to our apartment. Day before the move I still did not have any details about the storage, cost, or if I would even have storage at all!! I was already very stressed packing with 3 small children and a husband that works extremely long and tiring hours. It was not helpful. Fast forward to moving day. The movers show up with 2 trucks and a 5 person crew. The movers had no idea about what we were doing u til I spoke up and told them! They said “Lady you gotta tell us this stuff!” Umm, excuse me but I was not made aware it was my responsibility to tell them where and how the job should be done! I had boxes clearly labeled for storage or apartment. I even used the boxes they provided!!! I filled out every space so there would be no confusion. I am now missing so many boxes...so many essential items that are in the storage unit PACKED FULL and I am going to have to go dig through to find these items I need and can not be easily or cheaply replaced. They arrived at the apartment and spent over an hr taking things off the truck that was going to storage just to reach a couch because they did not pack correctly! I’m no moving company but how hard would it have been to use one truck for the apartment boxes and the other truck for storage?? We passed the unit on the way and 2 guys could have saved me time and Money going to unload and meeting us at the apartment when finished! But whatever, that is not what was done. The guys were tired. I get it. It was hot and humid mid August move and I felt bad but I am paying for this service!! We just purchased a brand new TempurPedic mattress. I PAID for mattress bags to protect them...but please tell me what good that does if the guys just rip through the bag to grab my mattress?? I now have filthy stains on my brand new mattress than can not be removed. I am furious. One guy dropped a piece of the lid to our green egg and it broke into about 4 pieces. He presented me with it in his hands and said “We can superglue it for you.” When I asked if this was not covered he said “Well yeah we cover it but it will have to come out of our pay.” Making me feel bad!! But it wasn’t even my mistake!! Sweaty dripping wet shirts and the guys put my cushion on their shoulders and carry them. Drop them on my floor and I can’t even stand to touch it soaked with their sweat and filth. I go back to clean at the old house and notice they didn’t even load our patio table, chairs or our charcoal grill!! After they asked SEVERAL times and each time I said “YES!” They left it and took items we told them NOT TO TOUCH!! And again, had to go dig through the unit to get it out because of them! I had to go with my husband and load up a heavy and awkward table, chairs and grill and purchase another storage unit to put them in. In all honesty, this is the 1st time we have ever used movers. I begged my husband to let me hire movers to make it easier this time. WORST MOVE EVER!!! So bad that even with 3 kids me and my husband have decided it’s worth him taking time off and us just doing it little by little all on our own. We will not be using Port City Movers again. We will not use any moving company because of the TERRIBLE experience we have had. I was billed without even knowing if the whole job was on the invoice. My husband was upset when he heard this and reached out to Rodney asking for him to call me and clear up the confusion. Rodney specifically told my husband that he would call me on Sunday...he never did. It wasn’t until I called on Tuesday about the table and grill being left at the hiuse before he even realized. No apologies for them leaving the items. No offer to help us load and get it to the storage unit. Debbie, Jamie and the gentlemen that helped us at the unit are the ONLY good!!! Unfortunately, even their kind words can’t earn our business. The others have scarred any good reputation.
