About Connolly Paint Contracting
I've been doing painting, sheetrock, and carpentry work for 35+ years. I learned a lot working for Luther Branton, who did work for the best residential and commercial builders in Nacogdoches, including Jim Kingham, R.G. Muckleroy, Lanky Williams, and Stanley Jones. I also learned a lot working for myself, where I've done a lot more repaint, remodeling, and repair work. I do all kinds of interior and exterior painting, with oil and water base paint, and do most of my work with brush and roller. After so many years of doing it, I am incredibly fast with a brush and/or roller, and in many applications, it is superior to spray painting. I specialize in the treatment of decks and fences, and can restore old, weathered, mildew and/or algae coated decks and fences to beautiful condition. I also replace glass in wood sash windows. I work alone, so if you have a big job and are in a rush, don't call me. But if you want someone who isn't going to cut corners and is going to do the job right, call me for a free estimate. I'll even give you a free demonstration of my prepping technique, and painting, too, if you have the paint. And beware, it is easy to cut corners in painting and it still look good. But it may not be as smooth as it should be, meaning it will get dirty faster and will be more difficult to clean, and/or won't hold up as well after several years. I've witnessed gross corner cutting on a new house where I was doing window work. I'd estimate the cost of this house at $150,000+ and they were getting a very substandard exterior paint job. David helped me with a small redo on my front steps and painting some old metal awnings. He was very thorough in researching the best way to complete the projects, and the results are excellent. | Millard's Crossing chapel | Sep 2015 | Chapel built around 1900, in exceptionally bad condition due to some of it having weathered at times, making the wood rough, and having been powerwashed, badly fraying the wood in places and paint applied over the fraying, and still many layers of paint on a lot of it, including lead-based paint-- some of the most difficult scraping I've ever done. I scraped using the hand chisel method, and did some power sanding to remove loose paint, caulk, and window putty, approximately 28 gallons of it . Washed to clean surface and kill mildew. Primed bare wood with primer tinted pink to make it easy to see smaller spots & topcoat them prior to applying topcoat to all- two coats of paint over primer on bare wood for superior durability, using Sherwin Williams Duration paint. This job was painting two sides and the steeple, with them providing materials on a special discount provided by Sherwin Williams.
