Spring Lea Dr.

Landowner wanted to take 1 acre of his lawn area and turn it into wildlife habitat. There are hedgerows along 2 opposite sides of the property. We wrote a plan of 175 native tree and shrub species and connected the 2 hedgerows. In the NW corner, there was a view area. In order to protect this view, we took 1/4 acre, sprayed the area off to control existing sod, dethatched the area 1 week later, and broadcast seeded with a custom seed mix for birds and butterflies. Existing invasive plant species that were found along property boundaries were also treated.

Business had a steep, grassed bank in front of parking area along busy highway. The area had to be trimmed with a weed-whacker once / month. Native Creations sprayed off the grass, installed 75 perennials (80% Native wildflowers) and mulched area. This way, the area will not need to be trimmed any longer costing time and reduced the danger. The perennials were planted in 3' intervals. All species planted will spread by rhizomes or are self seeders. Within a couple growing seasons, the bank will be encompassed by the plants. This will reduce erosion as well. Other aspects of the project included installation of specific trees and shrubs on another section of the bank. This section has no topsoil and is primarily fill material with a high rock content. Species that thrive in oxygen depleted soils were used to accomplish this task.

Customer wanted perennial flowers installed in front landscape. Has had 4 other landscape contractors look at site. The front landscape was nothing but protruding boulders and tree stumps. Other issue was a very heavy deer pressure. We built up areas out of existing rock found on property to create planting beds. Installed a total of 12 native perennial flowers (3 different species) all which are browse resistant. Completed a site inspection 2 months after install to find all plants thriving. Some of the existing woody vegetation which was heavily browsed was also doing much better.

Remove existing sidewalk, design and install brick paver sidewalk. The homeowner picked out the co!or block to be used. Native creations estimated and purchased all materials for the project including 100 - 6" x9", ~350 - 6" x6" block, base stone, base sand, and top sweep sand. Another aspect to this project was a steep bank in the rear of the property. It had been overgrown in phlox and myrtle. There was a honeysuckle bush growing out of control also. We cleared all the groundcovers, removed a compost pile, transplanted 2 boxwoods, collected native wildflowera from a neighboring property and replanted the bank with those. Trimmed back the overgrown bush and removed all honeysuckle vine that was also growing in bush.

Customer had a home that was not lived in for ~ 8 years. No landscape maintenance had been conducted for that time. NCL cleaned up all existing landscape, removed invasive plants within the landscapes, and spruced everything up. Customer was thrilled with results and same was then done to a second residence.

Landowner purchased a home in nice development. There was existing landscape in the front which encompassed approx 2/3 of the front lawn (landscape overkill). Most shrubs were planted too closely, had damage from snow /ice issues and the homeowner wanted more lawn area and a maintenance free front landscape. We removed about 60% of existing shrubbery, established an island with the 3 existing maples in the middle of the lawn area. Within the island, we installed ~ 75-80 perennials (90% native wildflowers) which will take over so eventually, no more mulching will be required. Along the front porch, native dogwood shrubs were installed in a staggered pattern. A lawn was installed between the house and island. In the rear of the home, the property drops off and there was no real "backyard". at bottom of hill, we cleared an area approx 1/4 ac in size, trucked in fill and topsoil, graded the area off to allow for run-off and seeded it into lawn so the kids could have a "backyard".
