This is a father-son team. They bring with them their family business reputation which they uphold by giving more than you ask for in quality and extras here and there. They communicate well with customers and graciously take feedback. They also advise on the best ways to do things to keep you within your budget. It was my privilege to come to know American Building and Renovations and I'll call them again for all of my future construction/remodeling needs.

I wish I could leave zero stars. Working with Thomas was a struggle. At the beginning, he seemed great - he prepared our quote quickly, and he seemed knowledgeable about re-building our staircase. However, we were clear that we wanted this project done very quickly, and we were hiring out for the convenience to have our staircase rebuilt fast. (Normally we are DIYers). Six weeks later, we parted ways with Thomas and were left with a ripped apart loft space, a house full of sawdust, and one stair-step sanded down. That's it. His excuses for the weeks of delays seemed exaggerated, and he even tried to blame his delays on compassion for my children's safety, yet he had no worries delaying the project further (again!) once the handrails were ripped down and our home wasn't safe. When that difficult phone call finally happened and I called him out on all his excuses, he became frustrated with me. Maybe I went too far telling him that he was not proactive with his time - but six weeks? Really? Anyways, he said he'd rather part ways with us than finish the job. We had never signed a contract with him, but we offered to pay him for the materials he was supposedly painting and staining at his workshop. He said no. He said he'd rather eat the cost of the material than let us buy it. So, left with three small kids and a ripped apart stairwell, we decided to do the job ourselves. We ordered parts the next day online, and two weeks later we're starting to install the pieces. We'll have this project done in less time than it took him. Maybe this would be a good company for a small project at your home - but not a large project. Good luck if you choose to hire them.
