Category 5 Fence Co, a division of Local Fence Co, a Home Depot installer, was contacted to replace our old wooden fence. We did not contact them through Home Depot. but Cat 5 Fence Co dropped their name several times as a selling point. From the moment that they arrived damage to my property and my neighbors began. They wrote a very detailed proposed to use a specified amount of concrete for our fence’s foundation and fortunately, I stayed home to watch the work. We were shortchanged materials from the beginning and lied to about it. Worker showed up late took long lunches forgot their tools and took off early and really provided about the worst experience of any contracted crew we have hired since we began renovation of our house. We began documenting our experience after the first damage to an outdoor light fixture and a love seat. The crew which was one disgruntled guy, cut as many corners as he could get away with. 1) Holes shallower than specified in the signed agreement 2) less than half of the foundation concrete that was spec’d actually was used 3) the mixing was done opposite to Quikrete’s instructions. The hole was filled with water and whatever contents of a bag was poured into the water, much of it floating off, as documented. 4) We received a citation from the city after Category 5 Dence Co failed to comply with curbside pickup requirements and in fact put debris in my neighbors yard. Bottom line if you want to get what you pay for, you will probably want to look elsewhere. If you don’t want your day and a half job to remain incomplete for months, and then get threatened by the Category 5 Fence Co, (a division of Local Fence Co, a Home Depot InstallerFence Company), when you complain about poor work, lies and getting short changed, but just want a quality fence without all of the unnecessary drama, I would strongly suggest that you look elsewhere. There are plenty of reputable fence companies locally. I wish we had chosen a different one. We checked the BBB and they received an A+ rating even though they had negative reviews on the BBB site. But then, who pays the BBB, the consumer or the business? Perhaps that is why when I complained to the BBB it seemed to me like I had to negotiating an obstacle course, with a time limit, intended to discourage any complaining about a paying ‘member’ business. Be warned! Category5 Fence Co, a division of Local Fence Co, a Home Depot Installer will promise you anything! That doesn’t mean that you are going to get what you expect. If Category 5 Fence or any of their divisions happen to be the crew that Home Depot sends, I would suggest that you watch them and video record all aspects of the work. You might need it if your fence falls down after a heavy rain like another of their clients is reporting in their reviews of Category 5 Fence Co.
