DELEM REMODELING

I first hired Dan for a siding project. He miscalculated the amount of siding, bought the excess off me, and then ended up requiring more, which I had to go buy. But the project was completed. During his time at my house he convinced me he and his crew were capable of patching the hardwood floors. My house is 130 years old with rare, matching, 5/4" thick, 5" wide tongue-and groove. I foolishly believed his claims of competency and hired him. BIG mistake. His idea of repairing/patching was to carelessly rip up excessive amount of board, scarring neighboring boards with circular saw cuts and breaking the boards that came up rendering them unusable. Then his idea of patching was to cut off the tongues and grooves entirely! Even flooring amateurs know you only cut off the bottom groove and carefully slot the board back in, otherwise you end up with gaps. We pointed this out to Dan and he condescendingly told us we didn't know what we were doing. He was planning on shoving putty in the 1/4" gaps. When we emailed them with photos and expressed our concern we got an irate reply about how dare we insult such a professional contractor. In the end we cancelled the contract and hired an actual flooring contractor. They were appalled at how careless and clueless Dan's team had been. They had to pull up an entire room of flooring to patch the rest of the house, so we've lost our original floor in that room forever. With Delem we agreed on a refund price (a pittance from what we deserved back) for the remainder of the contract. The never even sent it. We texted, called, and emailed. They kept saying the check was in the mail, then finally just ignored us and kept all the money. NEVER HIRE DAN. He will take your money, ruin your house, and run away, treating you like dirt all the way.
