The home, a week-end getaway from the city, was designed to be casual and easy going. The large living room mixes both books and personal objects. The couple shares a study on the first floor. Guests are immediately greeted in the entry by a poster of a smiling camel, sponsored by the couple at a charity auction. It is emblematic of both the generosity and whimsy the couple share. Foley & Cox designed the master bedroom to emphasize the feel of a week-end retreat. The master bathroom, designed with a hotel in mind, features his and hers sinks on either side of the entrance door. There is a guest bedroom on the first floor for visiting in-laws, as well as two on the second. The home also includes a state-of-the-art gym. The entire property is surrounded by privet and hydrangeas flank the porch and walkway overlooking the pool.

You approach the property driving through a wooded path including bee farms. The house is situated on the Navesink River with a small private beach and dock. You enter the house through a closed in porch. The front entry has a large farm table with lots of greenery and unusual objects. The music room is blue lacquered with a black baby grand piano. There is a guest bedroom suite for the grandparents all in blue and crème florals. The living room is flanked by two wood and metal bookcases purchased from the Paris Flea market. There is a large sectional for the family to gather around and watch movie/sports. A smaller seating area by the windows and the dining table is set up as a sofa back/game room which you can put together when having a large dinner. The kitchen is grey and white with a breakfast area with banquette seating. There is a small TV area off the kitchen and desk for the children to do school work. Jane has her own office as well. There is a mudroom and bath with storage for the children knapsacks sports equipment etc. The master suite has its own wing. The master bath has a soaking tub, vanity and large shower. The bedroom itself features a 4-poster bed with a TV easel. The second floor has the girls’ bedrooms with a shared bath and a sitting room for reading. The boy’s bedroom is covered with a map of the world and includes a desk and lots of storage for books and toys. There is a playroom with a red bathroom. The office is on the second floor and below is a state-of-the-art bike shop where Tim holds his collection of bikes and does repairs. The property has a sunroom, pool house and pool.

A single family has lived in the home for more than 25 years. The clients, avid art collectors, wanted a more modern home to entertain guests and showcase their collection. Foley & Cox renovated the kitchen and bathrooms, as well as refinished all floors. Two different paint tones were used to create subtle shadows throughout the home. We combined newly-purchased, modern furniture with the client’s existing pieces. Several new works of art were purchased for the clients and interspersed among reframed art and family photos. In the living room, the fireplace was lowered to create the focal point of the room. Also, the room was visually heighted by raising the drapery to the ceiling and wrapping the crown molding from the wall up onto the ceiling. For son's room, an avid tennis fan, we gathered a collection of vintage racquets and had them hung as a whimsical, graphic installation.
