Front Porch Roof

Apr 2011

To provide protection from the elements and to enhance the curb appeal of their lovely home our customer wanted a covered entrance at their front porch. We contracted with them to build a new roof over their existing front porch and to replace their front door. The new six panel door was installed and customized with a peep hole, door knocker, mail slot and a kick plate. The new trim, the door and the existing rails and shutters were primed and painted giving a fresh look to the entire front of the home. Our customer is very pleased with their new covered front entrance!

Bathroom Addition

Jul 2009

As our customers mother aged it was apparent the expenses of living in her retirement home would use up her lifes savings. The time for her to live with her sons family was here. It was determined that the addition of a master bathroom off of the existing dining room and sunroom would do the trick. The dining room would become a sitting room for the new member to the household, while the existing living room would be her bedroom. The new living quarters would be completed by the bathroom addition, designed with universal features. The existing kitchen would be shared by all. When mother is no longer in need of these living arrangements, the areas would easily convert back to living space for the main house, with the addition of a first floor master bathroom!

Railings - Decorative and Practical

Sep 2008

This lovely house with a view of the Chesapeake Bay just needed something to make it stand out among the crowd. The homeowners thought railings on the second story flat roof would do the trick! The owners wanted to avoid fastening the rails to the flat roof to alleviate any future possibly of leakage at the entry points. Consideration was given to the best plan for securing the upper rails without piercing the roofing material. The solution found was to install the rail system into seven 5 square posts weighted with concrete and laid horizontal on the roof. Since the project was rails, we suggested it would be a good time to install hand and step rails at the front porch also. The owners appreciated the suggestion and agreed. Pro Rail Charleston Rail style in White was the product selected for both the flat roof and for the front steps. The square posts and concrete were carried to the roof top where the concrete was mixed and poured into the posts. The weighted posts were positioned horizontally and the new rail system was fitted into the weighted horizontal rails. The installation is strong and secure. The front porch rail system was fastened at the top of the steps to the existing porch post. Step rails were installed on each side of the steps with the posts fastened at the bottom of the steps in concrete. Secondary hand rails were installed for easy gripping. The resulting new look gave the owners just the update they were looking for and a new ease of access for going up and down their front steps!
