| Exterior Painting - Saroni Drive, Oakland | Mar 2015 | Bernadette was looking to maintain and refresh the look of her home. Her number on priority was protection of the substrate. It had been over 10 years since it was last painted. Her home is comprised of wood siding and wood windows, requiring a high level of protection to prevent dry rot. We met with Bernadette to assess her needs and understand exactly what she was looking for. We were able to help her select the ideal colors, and understand her daily routine so the process would cause the least disruption to her schedule. The work comprised of a full exterior repaint, which took eight business days to complete. Given it is an older home, we were very aware of the potential presence of lead based paints. We covered ground areas with thick plastic, taped to the bottom of the home. We wet scraped loose paint off all surfaces, to prevent any lead dust from entering the air. After which we did a careful powerwash with cleaners to ensure a solid surface to work with. We applied a full coat of tinted penetrating wood primer to 100% of the surface, followed by 2 finish coats of Sherwin Williams Superpaint. We caulked seams around windows and corners of wood with top of the line 65 year elastomeric caulking to fully seal all potential water intrusion points. The preparation was very extensive, and the finish paint came out perfect. | Oakland, CA | ||
