I hired JD in April to remodel our home due to a flood, busted pipe, didn't know water could do so much damage. Anyway the work started, the guy he had working, ended up half doing the work, he then took supplies that were ordered for bathroom and haven't seen him since, that was in June, the work was to be completed in 4 to 6 weeks, we have since gone past 2 completion dates, coming up on the 3rd. It has ben rough, we're not by any means rich or have a lot of money, so to hire someone else to finish the work, is little to none, I'm disabled and on a fixed income. I have been admitted in the hospital once already going through this, so I have put it all in the hands of the Lord. We have to sleep in chairs and go to the main bath for water, we do not have a kitchen to cook or anything, it's so sad that people do this type of things to people, they have no consideration and the nerve to talk about God and stealing peoples money. Oh well I guess I just to have to sit and hope for the best. PEOPLE DO NOT HIRE THIS GUY.

Previously Posted review on thumbtack, "Fabulous job installing a beam and post, removing a load bearing wall. He kept me in the loop through the entire process. When the one person with the city that could approve permits, John stayed on them so I could hit deadlines. Will likely hire on other projects if they arise. Feb 3, 2018" Update--8/06/18 Hired JD for another job following excellent work on beam. I signed contract to have him install carport and gutters immediately following with the understanding project would be on hold, paid deposit on 2/8 of 62% of total project costs. Considering that this project required purchasing a lot of steel, didn't think much of it. Project was on hold on my end due to other stages that had to be completed before carport could be erected and weather. Starting April/May I attempted to get project moving. Several times JD scheduled only not to show. Reasons varied from permitting office system, weather, etc. Mostly I understood, encountering those problems myself. Now it is now 8/02 and still no carport/gutters and no refund of deposit so I can move on. All attempts to contact JD have received sporadic follow-ups and lately has been null. I've tried to be understanding throughout the process as things arose but courtesy updates would have been nice. My patience at this point has came to a close. I feel likely I'm going to spend a bit to recover my deposit at this point. My point is this. If you can get him to do the work, the work is excellent and he is an excellent person to have onsite. On the other hand, you may get stuck holding onto a contract without the project completed, no communication, and deposit in the wind. Someone's word and handshake used to mean something, and especially when followed with a written/signed contract.

I hired this "pro" from Thumbtack. Everything seemed fine except when he made a mistake or misunderstood what I wanted. The minute I made any mention of an error he was very defensive. He promised my job would be done in 4 weeks then he suddenly had an emergency that took him away from the job. He did very little to communicate and 2 weeks later still no work had been done. Needless to say, he did not finish and we have hired another contractor to complete the work that was started and fix the things that were not done right. Do not hire him!
