I started working in my father's cabinet shop in 1969. I have built or remodeled over 1000 homes. I worked out of carpenters union 1622 from 1973 to 1978. As a union carpenter working in Alameda California for several national builders I have build foundation forms, framed structures from the floor to the roof and installed exterior siding systems. I worked out of carpenters union 2046 from 1978 to 1985. As a union carpenter working in Contra Cost County California in addition to working on all phases of residential construction I also worked as job site foreman, job site superintendent and customer service representative. I obtained my contractors license # 472120 in 1985 and have worked as a independent contractor & inspector since that date. As a general contractor in California working exclusively on renovations I have installed complete HVAC systems from furnace to ducting, I have installed complete electrical systems from 400 amp service upgrades to complete wiring of structures, I have installed complete plumbing systems from excavation and repair of sewer laterals to installation of shower heads and every thing in between. As a general contractor I loved my work and rarely sub-contracted work, I performed all work in all trades my self and I have journeyman skills in all residential trades. As a general contractor having completed over a thousand projects I have scheduled and attended thousands of building inspections and have seen every phase of home construction from every angle, tradesman, contractor, inspector and designer I performed my first residential inspection in 1989 under my construction company name Steven G Abbott General Building Contractor License # 472120 and performed hundreds of inspections under my California contractors license. In the 1970s & 1980s it was called a builders inspection, my clients would call me and I would determine if a home was structurally sound. I would give my opinion concerning the condition of the home and the cost of repairs and renovations. As time passed the industry changed from a contractors expert opinion to a highly structured profession. Today a home inspector in Washington state is a highly trained professional who must prove extensive experience and education. I have been a licensed contractor in Washington state since 2005 I became a licensed Washington State Home inspector # 675 in 2010 when it became law to have a state license I have worked with real estate agents and home owners in California and Washington on home inspections, structural pest inspections and inspection report repairs. I have been involved in hundreds of transaction from the buyers, sellers, contractors, and real estate agents point of view and I am confident that I am a asset in any transaction. In the twenty eight years I have been licensed as a general contractor I have contracted and completed over one thousand projects. In the forty years that I have worked in construction I have worked on over two thousand projects. I have worked on high rise buildings, small cottages, one hundred year old Victorian mansions, duplexes, fourplexe's and McMansions. I am a residential home construction expert.
