It all started in Western Mass in the 1930's with Randy Hurlburt's great grandfather. Then the passion for building continued throughout the generations with his grandfather and even father. Randy started at a very early age, helping his dad on construction sites by acting as a laborer: mixing cement, picking up, hauling lumber, etc. It soon became very obvious that Randy himself was on his way to becoming a builder and a contractor since he grew up learning all aspects of the trade. Then in 1986 he broke away to form what is now Hurlburt Building Contractors in Orange Massachussets. Randy specialized in interior trim and cabinet work for several years. Then slowly, out of demand, he began tackling many other building projects. In the mid 90's he branched into custom homes, carrying those same cabinet quality standards to the custom home market.

I cannot recommend this builder. We hired him to build our dream home and it was a nightmare. We are still dealing with the aftermath of poor workmanship and building code violations which we now have to pay to have corrected. The entire process was painful. He did not end up finishing the project because his contractors license was suspended due to building code violations. This builder was in over his head from the get go and underbid the job then came back to us repeatedly for more funds with varying excuses for his incompetence. He cut corners to save himself money and then we had to fight with him to have things redone. We finally just gave up and are now regretting ever meeting this guy. We wouldn't wish the experience we had with this builder on our worst enemy. I cannot express our dissatisfaction. I had to give one star to even leave this review.
