This west-facing addition was designed as a sunspace with a 'glass wall' to allow passive solar heating and passive cooling including daylighting throughout the addition and existing home year-round. The homeowner added a 1,000sf sun-room with "super-windows," and a pair of "mini splits" to provide passive solar and energy efficiency performance, and experienced an immediate reduction in utility costs for the entire home during the heating season.
