L. T. (Bunk) Goggans formed Goggans Construction Company in 1984. It was incorporated in 1985 and now averages several million dollars of commercial construction each year. Born in Fort Payne, Alabama to a skilled carpenter, L. T. Goggans was interested in construction work at an early age. In 1961 he completed a degree in Building Construction Technology in Southern Polytechnic Institute, in Marietta, GA. He superintended the construction of 80,000 square foot Wheeler High School in 1964, in Marietta and the NASA Space Science Center on the Georgia Tech campus in 1966. Until 1984 he oversaw the construction of dozens of buildings, including schools, banks, multi-family dwellings and factories, mostly as project manager and estimator for J. T. Goggans Co. Goggans Construction Co. has built banks, warehouses, apartment complexes, and done several major renovations. Their largest project was the Medical Office Building for Highlands Regional Medical Center, a $10 million, 72,000 square foot structure completed in 1993.
