Beware of this Company!!! They are crooks and frauds!!! I contracted them in April 2022 to build a fence and deck. They completed the fence one month behind schedule, refused to come out and walk through the fence design with me prior to installation so that everyone was on the same page. They installed the fence in less than a day, it was installed incorrectly, it was uneven and nowhere near the design that was sent to them via email on several occasions. The installers had no idea what to do when they showed up and it was a total disaster. The fence material is extremely thin and can be easily bent with human hands. To make matters worse, Terry Colwell, the owner of Heartland Deck and Fence, cancelled the deck job on the day it was scheduled to start for absolutely no reason putting me in a horrible position due to events I had booked at my property and then tried to charge me a penalty fee for the decking he ordered and refused to return my deposit! I'm in the process of filing a police report for the stolen deposit and a lawsuit for his default under our written deck build contract which was signed in early April 2022 and abruptly cancelled by Terry in late July 2022 for failure to find a subcontractor. FYI-Terry depends on other companies to do the work, he's simply selling the job and taking a very large cut of the money to basically sell a job and do nothing else (he wouldn't even come out to walk through the job site with me which left his fence subcontractors in a horrible position). Thus, when his subcontractors are unhappy about the lack of guidance and lack of money Terry pays hem, they quit which is why Terry ultimately cancelled my deck build and then basically ran off with my deposit and told me to sue him which I very well will do! Take my advice and stay clear of this company, they are absolute crooks and will take your money and you will never see them again!

It’s unfortunate I have to write this. I rarely leave negative reviews but I feel others should be warned. Although we are pleased with the product (backyard fence), we are not pleased with the manner in which business was conducted. After their work was completed, we were sent an invoice with additional charges (over $1000) that were not agreed to in the original work order. If new charges were necessary, then they should have been discussed with us first and also informed us of these BEFORE the work took place. If at that time we agreed to them, then a change order should have been drafted and executed to legally agree to these changes. But none of this was done. It is not our fault as the customer that he made errors on the Work Order and left items out. And now he is demanding payment and threatening us with a lien. So please be very careful if you choose this contractor. I will never refer anyone to Heartland Fence!
