Warning! Eric Wolschlag showed up an hour late and reeking of alcohol to make a quote. Based on his enthusiasm and recommendation from a mutual friend, I still hired him and his crew to build three small pillars, hang 8 doors and to put in lighting for a new closet in my home. He also pointed out he had 25 excellent reviews on Home Advisor. His card displays BBB, NARI, Home Advisor, houzz, Angie’s List and Porch. He also put down another local very prominent contractor’s work and he brought this up without being prompted. He wrote up a quote on an ipad that I was unable to see but he promised to email me. He planned to start within a few days so he requested I pay him half of the proposed job. He suggested the check be payable to his name so I could get a $300 discount and he could avoid declaring it to the IRS. So I wrote a check for $1750.00, half of the amount of the job. I didn't receive an email. On the designated day, and an hour later than his arrival time, he texted saying he had a flat tire on his trailer and that my order wasn't in. Mind you all that was needed was common items: 10 2x4s and some wire to get started. The next day, the excuse was that new tire was flat and he never texted again that day. The third day we made a plan to begin at the same time. Just prior to that time he texted saying he was on his way. Two hours later, it was time for me to go to work and I texted him that I was calling it off and I wanted my money back. We talked on the phone later and agreed to not go forward. He agreed to reimburse me in full. Each day since, he has promised to show up with a cashier’s check but has never followed through. So I am sharing this to warn others and praying I get my money back as I am poor and had been saving that up for some time. While waiting for my check, I leaned that he is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau, he is not listed on other sites including Home Advisor so no such reviews exist! So these logos should not be printed on his card.

I initially hired Poplar Grove to do a complete bathroom remodel, it is so beautiful and Eric was so great to work with that I had another 1/2 bath re done. Its amazing ! I wanted corrugated tin as wainscoting and Eric made it happen even better than I envisioned. He just finished with remodeling a plain Jane family room into an upscale hair salon.Gorgeous,my clients are so excited about it. As a matter of fact I was so pleased with Poplar Grove that I have recommended them to my own clients. I have already heard 2 rave reviews from them with a third consulting with them fot their own fabulous bathroom. Do yourself a favor and go with some one who is 100% professional,he is a wonderful collaborator, educator, who is prompt, and always keeps you in the loop. The extra bonus is he is neat as a pin and never left my home in disarray.

Bath Remodel | Sep 2014 | Bathroom was gutted to the studs and floor joists! Removed a single piece fiberglass shower and built a walk-in shower complete with a marble bench and a wall niche. We combined classic subway tiles with modern recycled glass accent tiles for a unique design. The frame less glass door added a nice contemporary touch. | $10k | Peoria, IL | |
