General Contractor - Phoenix, AZ
I perform General Construction and Repairs in most of the Building Trades on Residential Projects. I obtained my State of California General Building Contractor's License in 1994 under the Business Name of Devereaux Custom Construction. I primarily subcontracted framing and finish carpentry work and project management services to various well known custom home builders in Santa Clara County. The projects ranged in scope from 18 Thousand dollar garage framing jobs to 65 Thousand dollar custom whole house finish carpentry. Scope of work including doors and windows installations, exterior siding, finish mouldings (baseboard, door casing, crown moulding, stain and paint grade wood beam and panel ceiling finishes, and cabinet installations. In addition, I specialized in kitchen and bathroom remodeling / small additions for homeowners when not under contract with the larger scale builders. This is where I vastly expanded and honed my skills in practically every other trade...drywall, painting, tile work, plumbing, and electrical, several roofing jobs, even a few carpet and hard wood flooring installations. I made the decision to leave California for Arizona in 2001 and began buying, fixing and flipping houses which continued until 2007 when the housing bubble suddenly exploded and left the construction and housing industries (and practically all others) in ruin. Since then, I have basically become a handyman hired to repair and replace everything from toilets and sink fixtures to ceiling fans, crown moulding and drywall repairs. I can handle most any type of home improvement with the exception of Heating and Air Conditioning units...I do have an excellent referral company for that type of work should you need it. Since I do not employ other men to help, I prefer to keep to the smaller projects now...1 to 3 day jobs are my primary focus and I like to be somewhat selective of the projects I take on. I keep my rates affordable to most people and my work quality higher than most have ever experienced when hiring a tradesman. I am in my late forties, have a family with 2 teenagers and 2 awesome large dogs. I work only with kind, reasonable and appreciative people. Seniors always welcome. Although I did pass all the state tests for a general building contractor license in Arizona, I decided not to activate it in lieu of preferring the smaller jobs. It is illegal for an unlicensed contractor in the state of Arizona to charge in excess of $1,000.00 for a project; inclusive of both labor and materials and this is the range of the projects I generally take on, so no need for the license or all the costs associated with maintaining it. If you have read this far, then perhaps I am just the person you need to work with, so reach out and call me on my cell: (480) 203-6405. I return phone messages (and email) usually the same day and normally within an hour or two. Honest, ethical, reliable...Max Cunningham. Thank you in advance.
