LITERAL NIGHTMARE "CONTRACTOR" Targeted my elder parents, one with Alzheimer's. Pressured for 10,000$ upfront (illegal to do), double charged for materials using client's credit card, made up an additional nearly 20,000$ cost, pretends he never made a contract, didn't install flooring, never completed walk through, didn't get upstairs remodeling permitted (lied that the city claims no permit needed; floor plan was changed extensively), had a crooked inspector write everything off (who has since lost their job), had elders pay his workers directly, his workers cut structural supports in walls, doesn't actually do anything when customer is unhappy about what work is being done, didn't bring porta-potties for the months of work (as required by law), and that's just scratching the surface to what he does in terms of litigation management. Run away from this guy. If your family member hires him, get a lawyer. A real lawyer, not someone who can get bought out for fraudulent misrepresentation.
