This open layout is fun as well as efficient. Wood flooring and fixtures throughout the home helps to pull together the industrial/modern theme. DJL Builders came up with a design for storage that is cohesive and multifunctional ranging from a charging station in the kitchen drawers; to a dog house under the stairs. The open layout is inviting and makes entertaining guests or just relaxing enjoyable. The washer and dryer are conveniently located upstairs; down the hall is a guest bedroom and powder room and a master bedroom that is its own private oasis with a walk-in closet and a beautiful claw foot tub to soak in after a long day of play or work.

DJL Builders designed a mudroom between the kitchen and garage as well as a modest basement remodel with an entryway. The space for the mudroom was awkward and a catch-all for clutter. DJL Builders created a mudroom with custom cubbies with seating and a side closet to help bring order and extra storage to seasonal and everyday needs. The basement of the home was underutilized as well, so we came up with a simple, multipurpose design for entertaining and a media room. The addition of the egress door to the basement with its own private entrance gives easy access to the outside and offers a sense of privacy for when guests come to visit.

There’s a nostalgia of old and new mixed together to create a crisp black and white transitional kitchen. We enhanced the nostalgia of the old by keeping the wood burning fire place, along with a built-in cabinet and a Grandfather’s clock to tie it all together. Organization, functionality, lighting and keeping with the same hardwood floors was important to this active family. We added in a door wall to bring in more natural light and used island lighting, under cabinet lighting and overhead cans to help illuminate the different everyday tasks when working in the kitchen. A full-size pantry wrapped on all sides gives it a unique architectural design element, maximum cabinetry, and cubbies, helps keep this active family organized.

Adding a dining area and mudroom to an existing residence provided a perfect opportunity for DJL Builders to showcase the attention to detail required to seamlessly join an existing living space with new construction. The exterior brickwork and stucco complimented with a period detailing match the original architecture of the home. An extra-long lot presented unique opportunities for DJL Builders to design and build a charming Cape Cod residence for an active couple with diverse interests. The main floor captures every activity required by the homeowners for one-floor living. A home office made private with sliding doors, a master bedroom and bath featuring a walk-in shower surround an open concept kitchen and living/dining area. The work zones of the home - laundry, powder room, mud room are strategically laid out along a stately corridor leading to a three-car garage.
