My husband and I are remodeling our home. Word of Mouth was contracted to install 20 recessed lights in the family room and two bedrooms, replace the circuit box, add additional wiring for a flat screen television and electronics, add cable and electric outlets in two bedrooms, and replace lighting in our workout room. We had recessed lights installed in the kitchen, master bedroom and bathroom, and the frontroom by a general contractor in 2014 and he did an excellent job. Word of Mouth began work on our home on April 23, 2016. The contractor showed up two hours late for the initial job. The lights that are currently in our home were what was shown to Mr. Sullivan when he came to do an estimate. We EXPLICITLY told him to match the light fixtures with the light fixtures that were in our home. However, he chose to ignore what he was told, and instead installed three different sizes of light fixtures: 6-inch. 7-inch, and 8-inch. Not only are there three different sizes, there are three different styles of ceiling lights. After he finished the ceiling lights, we were told that one of his "partners" would resurface/repair the numerous empty holes in the walls and ceilings, in which there are a lot! The contractor did not use drop cloths or dust covers or plastic sheeting and dust was over the entire home. He even sawed a hole above an uncovered top bunk bed and left the dirt in the bed. He did not clean up the mess and left various equipment and materials that were replaced. The light fixtures are crooked, are not flush against the ceiling, and the rings around the fixtures are very loose. He was a no-show when he was supposed to finish the work. Subsequent attempts to contact him by email and telephone were met with excuses such as, "My internet was messed up," or "I'm too tired" is what he said when my husband finally got a hold of him 1.5 weeks later for him to finish the job, which he was a no-show for an appointment, that he, the contractor scheduled. After waiting three weeks, my husband received a text from the contractor indicating that he was available to complete the work. However, my husband told him no because we had moved on. It has been very disappointing because we were referred to Porch by Lowes and since Lowes is a reputable company, we figured Porch and its contractors would be reputable as well. However, that’s not the case. My husband and I have worked too hard for our money to be throwing good money after a contractor with some very bad "professional" habits. Qwan Sullivan was paid $2500 for this job. If this is "Backed by the Porch Guarantee," please refund our money. We had a higher expectation for our remodeling project and any contractor that is or will be used. It's too bad that photos cannot be uploaded because my words are limited, but photos speak a thousand words.
