Kitchen Design and Remodel | Madison

Jun 2015

We are pleased to feature this Madison kitchen update for some long time Clients of Frey Construction. The couple came to us with a great framework for their kitchen using the existing maple cabinetry and eucalyptus flooring. And while only a few updates were needed to improve the space, the smaller and less noticeable updates really helped take this project to a whole new level. The kitchen’s obvious and gorgeous updates included new granite countertops and a tile backsplash. And while we didn’t work on that phase, we’re always flexible when it comes to working with other contractors or do-it-yourselfers… We installed a new bay window over the kitchen sink, with an adjusted, lowered height so the new countertop could extend into this space, creating a lovely display area. We installed new cans, pendants, and under-cabinet lighting, shining a whole new perspective on the space. Along with a fresh coat of paint, new hardware, and a few updates to the existing cabinetry, we updated with a new larger window in the dining area to really polish off the space. “We had Frey Construction do our kitchen remodel in February 2015. We were extremely happy with the whole process, which was so much less intrusive on our lives than we had anticipated. We were only without running water for two days and were able to use our kitchen for most of the remodeling job, which took 4 weeks. We had to eat out only 4 or 5 nights. Stacey, who helped plan and coordinate the process, was wonderful. She was efficient and always informed us of any changes in schedules. We had another company do some of the work, and Stacey was also very good about keeping them informed as well. We had many people from Frey coming into our home and everyone was very polite and courteous. They cleaned up any mess they had made every day they worked on the project. Specifically Victor, who had to handle a difficult flooring issue and did an excellent job. Nick, the project manager, was friendly, on time, and did quality workmanship with a smile always on his face. He was a pleasure to have in our home. Mike, the electrician, worked steadily and gave us good suggestions for where to place the lighting (we have been so happy with his suggestions as we see and use the finished products). We have had Frey do many projects in our home and each time have been more than satisfied with their work and professionalism. We have also referred Frey to people in our neighborhood, and they have had the same positive experience we had. Frey Construction is a company we will continue to recommend to anyone else who asks.” ~Mike & Margaret Collins

Addition and Remodel | Wisconsin Dells

Feb 2015

This project is located north of Wisconsin Dells. And while there’s certainly no improving the already beautiful lakeside location, our Clients wanted to make their home there even better… They envisioned major work on the main level and basement. And as past Clients of Frey Construction, they knew exactly who they wanted on board to tackle the project! This major undertaking included a full kitchen remodel/expansion, with a new dining and sunroom on the main level. In the basement, we added a bedroom and theater room, and converted some unfinished space into a bathroom. Along with all of this, we added a huge, wrap around, maintenance free deck to the exterior of their house. Highlights of the project include the following: Gorgeous custom cabinets from Cabinetry Plus with granite countertops in the kitchen. Tile backsplash that ties together the flooring, cabinets, and countertops. Beautiful, yet easy to maintain LVP (luxury vinyl plank) flooring in the dining and sunroom. New built-in bench/cubbies in the entryway. Custom built DVD and component storage in the theater room. Fabulous window size and placement in the sunroom and bedroom to allow stunning views of the lake! And a 3-sided fireplace! It’s impossible to choose the project’s best feature!

Triple Bathroom Remodel and Design | Waunakee

Dec 2014

Our Clients built their home several years ago and were ready for updates to the master bath, kids’ bath, and powder room. The Homeowners have great style, and we brainstormed with them to put into reality their ideas for the new spaces. We worked within the existing layout, except in the master shower, where we removed a small “bump out” to boost the shower size to the full width of the room. Many unique features were incorporated into all three spaces. New custom hickory cabinetry brought a slightly more contemporary look, while still blending in nicely with the beautiful existing oak throughout the rest of the home. Through the help of the amazing Houzz.com website, our Clients found inspiration for a very stylish, yet functional, medicine cabinet for the powder room. The cabinet’s three shelves extend wall to wall and the mirror slides on a track, as you can see from the photos. There’s plenty of hidden storage, and plenty of style! We updated the powder room with a custom made vanity that was inspired by the design of a prefabricated unit. Our cabinet makers were able to mimic the style and improve upon it to fit the space perfectly, all at a reduced cost. To complete the space, we added new lighting to complement a sleek quartz countertop, along with a rectangular under-mount sink and touchless sensor faucet. In the kids’ bathroom we installed a deep soaking air jet tub with accessible tiled apron, and a unique vertical tile accent, the perfect focal point. The rest of the walls called for large tiles with a polished finish (goal: fewer grout lines and easier to clean). A recessed medicine cabinet and new vanity with internal trash now provide ample storage and help keep things tidy. Finally, because the bathroom has no windows, we installed a sun tube. It’s the perfect way to bring natural light into spaces in the very center of a home like this. For the master bathroom we updated the cabinetry and medicine cabinet, and added new faucets and lighting. The new, larger shower called for a custom bench, complete with a quartz top and a heavy glass enclosure underneath. Fixed and handheld shower fixtures ensure a luxurious shower experience and make cleaning the space a breeze, as do the large format tiles used for the shower walls and bathroom floor. Vision + Design + Function + A little luxury = The formula for three renovated and revitalized bathrooms that suit the this family perfectly!

Lake Home Basement Remodel | Lake Wisconsin

Sep 2014

This basement remodel was completed in a a very lovely home on Lake Wisconsin – one that the Homeowners have carefully remodeled quite a bit over the years. With three growing kids, the place was feeling cramped, and the Andres wanted more room to spread out. They decided it was time to remodel the basement, where there was plenty of unused space. When they thought about this project, they had one friend in mind to help them. Having recently finished her own basement, our Remodeling Consultant, Jenn Breunig has a space that is very much what our Clients envisioned for themselves. Initially, Jenn and our Clients viewed the entire basement with a neutral eye, as a wide open “blank” template. Part of the original basement was already finished, but in need of some updates. Another section was unfinished, and had been part of a previous addition. The combined space was more than ample, providing plenty of square footage to work with. They quickly realized it made the most sense to leave some existing rooms in place, such as a bathroom and guestroom – with some updates of course! Jenn worked with our Clients to select the “just right” materials for their project. With the brainstorming phase over, we went to work! We started by removing a wall between the old and new basement sections. The unfinished space was transformed into a spacious family room with a bar and additional seating area in front of an existing fireplace. We didn’t stop there. A previous guest room was converted into a workout (“dance”) room. Throughout the project, the hand-picked components truly “match” the home’s main floor level. Maple was perfect for all added doors and trim. And beautiful cabinets from Cabinetry Plus were custom made for the space. The bathroom’s vanity and linen are a rich maple with a dark espresso finish, and rustic hickory carries off the bar and entertainment center. Engineered wood keeps the look and feel consistent throughout the main area, and a modern tile design jazzes up the bathroom and complements the vanity’s quartz countertop. The finished space? It’s useful. It’s beautiful. And it works in harmony with the rest of the home.

Absolute Gutter with Leafproof Gutter Protection | Madison

Sep 2012

Our exclusive Absolute Gutter System was installed on this Madison home, complete with our Leafproof Gutter Protection system. The Absolute Gutter™ system creates a beautiful look and is a completely seamless gutter system. Made from the same piece of metal, each gutter is custom bent at your home, as it is about to be installed. Even the end caps are wrapped from the back of the gutter – making a sleek transition and corners. This process eliminates the unsightly box miters and strip miters – which also reduces the amount of caulking that needs to be done with the traditional method of installing gutters…which greatly reduces the possibilities of future leaks and needed repairs! Abolute Gutter System The gutter is custom bent with the backside of the gutter remaining 1” higher than the front lip. In the Mid-West environment, it is common for gutters to become clogged with leaf debris, snow, ice, etc., but with the Absolute Gutter™ – and the back being 1” higher than the front, the water in the gutters would still be able to escape the gutter over the front, rather than submerging the fascia board and roof edge. The Absolute Gutter™ system is built to hold 40% more water than a standard gutter…and this product is also built to accommodate any gutter protection system on the market today. This can be done without having to adjust existing gutter protection, which will save you money! Reduced Chances for Leaks and Needed Repairs Protection of your Fascia and Soffit from Wood Rot Holds 40% More than the Standard Gutter Completely Seamless and No End Caps Works with ALL Gutter Protection Systems For more information on our gutter products, visit: www.FreyConstruction.com
