Grady's Quality Excavating

Grady Hopson, President of Grady's Quality Excavating, Inc. is also the qualifying party for an A-General Engineering license. Grady began his career in heavy construction in 1980 when he went to work for Apollo Asphalt in Phoenix, Arizona. Grady learned from the ground up how to operate various types of heavy equipment as well as how to use technical equipment for grading. He continued in the field of paving over the next fifteen years with various Arizona firms; S & S Paving, Fann Contracting, Vail's Grading & Paving, Benson Contracting and C.S. McCrossan. In the early 1990's Grady was employed by Citizens Utilities, for nearly three years, as an equipment operator. In 1993 and 1994 he worked residential projects with Robin Hoss Backhoe Service. In 1996, when employed by C.S. McCrossan, Grady superintended a $12 million paving project on Interstate 10 near Quartzite, Arizona. In 1997, Grady tested for the commercial license (A-General Engineering) and passed. He has slowly built the company from just one backhoe to many pieces of equipment. GQE can perform utility installation, pad cuts, excavation of footings and piers, grading and paving of drives, lots and public roadways. Some of the commercial projects that GQE has contracted on are: Outback Steakhouse, Powerhouse Gym, Discount Tire, Osco Drug Store in Prescott; US Post Office in Dewey; Bradshaw Mtn. Christian Assembly New Sanctuary, Fry's Grocery, Harkins Theatre, Walgreens, Albertson's Express, and the Town Hall in Prescott Valley. GQE performed paving projects on Glassford Hill Road, Hwy. 89 and 89A, Sheldon Street, and Hwy. 69. Paving many small commercial parking lots and driveways have also been a huge part of our work for the past several years. Recently, GQE has been involved in the new construction at Trader Joe's. In the residential arena, GQE performs all types of site work, rock excavation, footings, utilities, road building, paving of drives and retention walls
