We needed several projects around our home to be done. Mat completed them perfectly in a timely and professional manner. He is very good at any plumbing issues we had, and we couldn't be happier with his work. We highly recommend his for a wide variety of handyman services. He is on time and does a great job. When we have other projects we will request him. Thanks Porch for finding him for us.

The project I started with Matt in late October is now complete. My project was to redo the area under an elevated deck. The area was outside the door leading from a walkout lower level. Because of the deck above, the area was almost unusable during inclement weather because of dripping water coming down between the Trex boards of the deck. We had attempted to remedy the situation by putting a plastic corrugated roof under the deck. After several years of dripping and standing water, the joists to which the boards were nailed had started rotting. My goal was to replace any joists which were unsafely rotted and get a ceiling above the lower patio that would prevent water from dripping down between the boards when it rained. There was also indoor/outdoor carpeting on the cement floor of this lower patio which was rotted and mildewed. I wanted that disgusting rug removed and replaced with travertine tile I had purchased. Matt replaced the rotted joists and then painted all the joists with a primer followed by the paint that had been used on the rest of the house. Next he nailed Trex stringers to the joists so that when the tin corrugated ceiling was screwed onto the stringers there would be enough fall to allow the water from the deck to run away from the house. By installing rain gutters to catch the falloff, he has now made the patio under the deck drip free. He changed the contour of the land outside the cement patio so that the water runs away from the patio instead of into it. That included removing a tree and digging u-ditches and channels to divert the water. He installed a subfloor on the concrete of the deck before installing the travertine tile. He put the tile down with special mud and grouting to prevent cracking and breaking away of the tile. While this project was underway the weather turned cold with snow and rain, so he constructed a plastic tent around the patio and had a propane heater going on in the tent to try to keep the concrete floor dry and warm while he laid the travertine. I now have a beautiful waterproof patio with travertine tile on the cement so that I have a place where I can sit and enjoy the surroundings of my back yard. I cannot say enough about Matt's professionalism in handling my anxieties over the complexity of the project and the research that he did to insure that this would be an area that could be enjoyed for years to come without any of the original problems. His diverse experience makes him capable of undertaking any kind of project around the house. I highly recommend him.
