For our garden clean-up, the company sent 2 crew members who worked from 8am-2:30pm at our place with a lunch break in between. So the total hours are no more than 13 hours but we were charged 18 hours!! when we asked the company about the obvious overcharge, the owner responded in email:"the time is portal to portal. Equipment has to be loaded prepped and driven to site, material has to be delivered to dump site and back" "We also had to rent a chain saw to remove the dead birch" So be cautious on what they'll charge you: if they don't have the right equipment that they should have, they'll charge you for the time they need to rent it. and how do you know how many hours they spent to load the equipment or how far the dump site is for them to drive there to dump?! You may ask why not ask for a quote before the work. Well here's the owner's response:"we are dealing with nature which has it’s yearly changes and specific cyclical needs. That’s why I can’t tell you how long it takes for a specific tree pruning to create a form from that years growth. It’s not as simple as defining a simple fence project or concrete pour which can be figured specifically by the sq.ft. or cubic yard." So that means forget about the quote. It's our fault that we still hired them because of the seemly good reviews on google. Wish we had seen their Yelp reviews beforehand
