PAT HICKEY PAINTING IS THE WORST AND RUDEST CONTRACTOR I HAVE EVER MET. My contract said, "Journeymen crew to professionally spray, brush & back-roll 2 coats to all siding, fascia, eves, body trim, doors, etc. & anything previously painted." BTW crew meant one person and I have a very large house. The first coat on the exterior of my house, I thought, was almost complete, but I noticed the plastic cover coming off the windows. I asked the painter won't you need that for the second coat. He said he did two coats at once. He explained he sprayed it and then back rolled it with a dry roller. He got annoyed when I didn't agree. I immediately called the owner, but no response. I then called the owner's son and he said two coats is spraying one coat and then back rolling with a wet roller. I told him I'm standing outside and there isn't a paint bucket or roller tray in sight. At this point he started talking to me like I was a little kid. The owner's son hung up on me then he called the painter and I heard the painter echo what I saw, sprayed and then rolled with a dry roller. I asked the painter to have the owner's son call me back. The painter refused to relay my comment to the owner's son, but I was standing close enough to the phone for the son to hear me. No call back from the son. I now understand why the painter kept encouraging me to leave while he was painting, then I would have had no idea what little work occurred. BOTTOM LINE: If you like one coat of paint when you paid for two coats, if you like to be talked to like you are a moron by the owner's son and painter and have to babysit the painter all day to see what is accomplished, this company is for you. This was a two person job and they tried to do it with one person. Obviously the owner only cares about profit vs. the quality of his workmanship.
