Please do not use Millcreek Custom Homes for your new construction. My fiancé and I tried to hire Shawn to build our dream home for us and it felt like nothing but a scam. We met with him two or three times and were extremely excited to start the process. During this process Shawn said he needed $1075 to get the drawings for the house and his subs lined up, we agreed because we were so excited after a whole year after we purchased our land. Most banks require a builder to be approved through them before they loan any sort of money (because of the 2008 market crash). We started at Horizon Banks since we bought our property through them and Shawn refused to give them all of the information they were asking for. We agreed that we thought it could be the bank asking for too much so we decided to switch to Ruoff. After about 3 weeks the woman we were working with called me and said it was unusual for her to say what she was going to tell me, but there were all kinds of red flags and Shawn would not complete the correct information she needed in order for him to get approved. At this point we reached out and asked what was going on and he said nothing was wrong on his part, it was the bank. So, I reached back out to Ruoff to figure things out and she said she would make a video for him to make sure he knows all of the correct information the bank needed. He then again, did not give her all of the information and acted like they were loaning me the money and I needed to tell them to fix it or find another bank. By this time, I felt extremely uncomfortable going through two banks and both of them pointing out red flags. I asked Shawn if he had gotten a first draft of our drawings and he said no. I asked where the money went that we gave him and since he could not be approved through the banks, to please give it back or give me the drawings that they were supposed to pay for. Every time I have tried to reach out to Shawn he was either traveling out of the country or out of the state and I have not heard back. I am very disappointed how things went and would not recommend him to anyone. Please look at multiple options when having work done.
