Dear Maggie C. We apologize if you feel that we were refusing to listen to what you wanted to do with your home. As professionals in the contracting industry we advise our clients on the best possible quality options for their home. After 90 years and 4 generations of a family owned contracting business we believe strongly in quality and integrity and giving our clients the best possible solutions for their homes. During our initial job walk with you, performed by the sole owner of the business, he did explain to you that it would be 2-3 weeks before we could provide a detailed and transparent estimate to repair your extensively damaged bathroom and not simply remove and replace walls. To properly repair your bathroom many things would need to be taken into consideration such as the connection of the wall structure to roof framing, location of load bearing walls, location of plumbing, understructure removal and replacement due to extensive sewer and pest damage, planning, design and permitting, determining if current electrical and plumbing is sufficient as is or would require upgrading, hazardous material disposal due to excessive amounts of hydrated lime used previously for initial sewage leak mitigation, determination and location of previous sewage leak to verify that is was properly repaired by a previous contractor. As expressed on the phone we would have been happy to still provide you with an estimate, however we did not want to commit to a project where we did not believe it possible for us to meet your expectations or requirements.
