No fencing

I found this "licensed" fencing contractor through thumbtack.com He gave the lowest bid for my fence with a gate and stated he used only materials from Berco. He arrived the next day with wood that clearly had Home Depot stickers on it. He stated Berco was out of wood?!?! That should have been my first clue. End result is a have a fence that varies in height anywhere from 6' to 6' 9" in height. Our CC&R's prohibit fences over 6' tall. The gate he built sags and my dog is able to walk through it like a one-way doggie door because of the cheesy construction. He left all my old wood on my front lawn saying he'd have it picked up the following day. Over the next several days I sent text messages requesting removal of the old wood. He answered each text saying he'd remove it by the end of the day. One week later, and after a threatening letter from my homeowners association, I had to pay a guy to haul it away. Afterwards, I checked the California Contractors website and found that he was an unlicensed contractor. Then I found numerous complaints on the web regarding him and his numerous fictional company names. Not a single good review. So for $1200, I got 5 4X4's set in concrete and will have to completely deconstruct and rebuild my fence and gate. Please do your homework BEFORE anybody begins work on a project at your house. A little due diligence on my part would have saved me a whole lot of time, money and frustration.
