Roy Burton, owner and founder of Burton Flooring, began his work in the carpet industry in late 1974. Roy worked as an installer for two years and every single day was rewarding for him. He felt a sense of pride at the end of each day when he looked at the finished product and all that he had done to achieve it. Roy loved his job, but also felt there was more to learn. In 1976, Roy decided to go into the apprentice program for Local 1310 Union. There, he was able to attend workshop classes twice a week to expand his knowledge in the flooring industry. Some say that hands-on training can't be beat, but learning from experts in classes keeps you from picking up bad habits and helps you learn it right the first time. That attention to detail is what Roy wanted for himself. Being in the Union was a great experience for Roy, but his dream was to have his own business. Roy set out and made his dream a reality and opened his own company in 1979. He has trained a lot of young men on carpet installation. He has bestowed in them that quality craftsmanship and professionalism is what he and his customers both want and, furthermore, nothing short of that will be acceptable. In 1989, he met Cindy who later became his wife and, eventually, his business partner. She saw a quality in him of which he was unaware. She saw a man who was good with people and who was also an excellent teacher. She asked if he would like more out of his business. She believed he could teach more men and grow an installation company made of more than just he and two apprentices. And so it began, and they grew into what is now a thriving company made up of ten crews, all hand-picked and knowledgeable of all flooring. All of Burton's installers hold the same values of quality craftsmanship and utmost professionalism in every job they do. To keep everything running smooth, Burton Flooring staffs an office of very conscious employees (Derek,Erika, Cathy, Tamie and Sadie), all with prior years of experience in the flooring industry.
