Chappelle Roofing

Would give ZERO stars but that's not an option. Beware! We contracted with Chappelle Roofing Co. in August of 2024 to have a new metal roof installed. To date (1-10-25), the roof is still not completed to industry standards and will not pass city inspection. The owner fails to take any corrective action. There is a lot more to this unfortunate situation, the roofer left us with no roof or emergency tarping through two Hurricanes (Helene and Milton) which the roof leaked heavily and caused damage to the home and contents. The roofers were drinking on the job exposing us to significant liability and likely leading to the improper work. Now the company is threatening to put a lien on our home because we refuse to the pay the final invoice until the job is done correctly and passes city permit inspection. We tried to work with them through the past few months to no avail. We feel completely helpless and taken advantage of since they will not take action to correct the issue. The contract stated that the job would take 3-4 days and here we are 5 months later with no end in sight. Like most, our home is our greatest investment which is why we were getting a new roof in the first place, to protect our investment, but that has backfired when we decided to hire Chappelle. The treatment we are receiving by the roofing company feels absolutely criminal. Additionally, on the first day of their work, 9-23-24, they increased our estimated cost by $3300, over 25%. Alleging that they had to use a synthetic underlayment which they did not realize until tearing the roof off- but is typical on older house. If it's typical, why wasn't it estimated? They had no good response. Furthermore, there was an excessive amount of materials: 5 metal sheets, 2 plywood sheets, 26 rolls of sticky caulking stuff, boxes of (hundreds) of different sized screws, one full roll of Owens Corning Roofing underlayment and a nearly full 5-gallon bucket of PG 500 Cement, all left on site. Begging the question, why? Were the materials supposed to use for the proper work to be done? Is this why our estimate was increased by $3300? The saga continues....

I would give them 0 stars if possible. DO NOT do business with this company. I called Chapelle to fix a leak in my roof over my kitchen and another leak on the eave of my porch. The owner and his friend came out to give me an estimate. They said my roof was in great shape and they could fix my issues for $1000. They then started speaking about valleys and channels and other roofing terms. I told them as long as that means my roof will stop leaking that sounds fine. They came out to fix both areas. Their foreman showed me pictures of their work and I said thank you and promptly paid my bill. My roof began LEAKING A MONTH LATER! Five months later, my roof continues to leak again in the same spots. I have called several times and asked if they can come back out and fix these issues. The owner and his friend came back out and looked around and said they would be happy to send the crew back. That was the last I heard from them. I followed up a month later and they denied that they had ever agreed to work on the eave or that the owner had come back a second time/said he will send the crew back again. They offered to come out and reappraise my job (that they had already allegedly done). I asked about their guarantee they advertise on their website, they said that only applies to new roofs. They are now unwilling to do the job they were contracted and paid for. Find another roofer, this company are one to skip.

Chappelle Roofing provided good roofing service, professionalism, and communication the entire time. It was hassle-free for us and our roof was quickly repaired and Dad finds them amazing. There were quite a few paper works at first because of the necessary permits, but after that, they quickly proceeded to our roof repair request. They are highly recommended for being a dedicated roofing contractor.
