Jeff O.
Hugo Rojas and Jorge Sanchez of Sunny Hill Landscaping did a very poor job of doing our landscape project. In the end, we fired them before they finished and we are now paying another company to fix their mistakes and finish planting. Sunny Hill is not being asked to quote on our front yard landscape project. My review started to be over 3 pages, without pictures, so I will just highlight a few points. Pros: 1. Side yard looks pretty good. Still has inferior mulch. They added too much rock to the path and we asked them to remove some, but they never did. Cons: 1. Inability to follow written plans. They only installed 3 irrigation zones, not 4. When they installed the forth, they installed a leaky valve. The new landscaper we hired to fix this mess found that many of the plants did not have drip lines to them. The larger plants were supposed to have 2 drip lines each. Some had none, some had one, but none of them had 2. 2. Inability to follow oral direction. They were asked/told not to transplant 4 plant. They did anyway and now 2 $80 plants are dead. 3. Use of inferior quality materials. The mulch used all over has chunks of red and blue plywood in it. The new landscaper pointed out that many of the plant are cheap immature plants from a home store instead of mature plants from a nursery that we paid for. 4. Poor craftsman ship. On their 4th attempt to fix the stone walkway and patio, the stones in the repaired section are crooked, not level and the gap between them is inconsistent. The grout, if it is actually grout, is the wrong color again. It is almost white instead of a medium gray. With all of the rework on the stones, there is now gray grout dust all over the mulch which is not washing off. There is also a lot of mortar bits throughout the mulch.
