Rugs As Art, Inc. was established in the Gulf Gate shopping district of Sarasota, Florida by John and Lucy Murse. The 800 sq. ft. store was founded on the objectives of providing quality area rugs to the Sarasota market with superior selection, outstanding service and unbeatable pricing. This focus allowed the company to grow rapidly and in 1989, the store was relocated to a new 4,500 sq. ft location. </br> Continued success allowed Rugs As Art to build a new 18,000 sq. ft. showroom in 2001. Fourteen foot ceilings, hardwood flooring, excellent lighting and efficient rack systems accommodate several thousand rugs in all prices and designs. Separate areas are dedicated to handmade, tufted, machine made, indoor/outdoor, as well as custom rugs. Additionally, Rugs As Art offers home accessories, furniture, pillows and art. The Sarasota showroom also features a wide selection of carpeting and hardwood flooring. Rugs As Art, Inc. has since expanded to include a showroom in Port Charlotte, FL.
