Project: Remodel or Convert an Attic What a mistake we made putting our trust in Total Home Solutions of NY, LLC (THS). Never in all of my years of working with contractors have I had such an unfortunate experience. Work began on our house without proper permitting and without a certificate of insurance- both required by law. Work completed did not meet code as determined by both a licensed architect and the local town code enforcement officer. The code officer outlined the steps necessary to make our house a legally inhabitable space, but THS failed to assume full financial responsibility to make it right. We had to pay out of pocket for what is essentially the price of the original contract to fix these issues ourselves. THS has not returned any credit for our substantial out of pocket expenses to bring their work up to code and has not reached out to resolve the issue. It shakes me to the core that people and their companies can sleep at night with this type of behavior. Based on our family's experience I WOULD AVOID THIS BUSINESS UNDER ALL CIRCUMSTANCES.
