This interior remodel was for a residence located in the Sunset Hill neighborhood of Seattle. The new design improves flow and optimizes the use and functionality of the laundry room space. A new closet was also included to help with storage needs. The family room and adjacent bathroom were remodeled as well, including custom cabinetry.

Interior Remodel -- Shoreline, Washington

The main goal of this project was to open existing spaces, creating a visual and physical extension through the living room, dining room, exterior deck and beyond. The existing small kitchen was expanded to incorporate an island with new electric and gas cooktops. Custom cherry cabinets, paperstore countertops, and glass backsplash tile were used in the design. New lighting, reclaimed wood flooring and exposing existing brick walls were included in the design of this project.

Designed new exterior deck off of the dining room area of the home. The design integrated built in seating, storage, and custom railings. IPE wood was used and an area for the hot tub was also incorporated.

Remodel - Montlake Residence

dean alan architects refinished the basement of this antique, Moroccan-style home in the Montlake area of Seattle. A minimally finished space was transformed into a second family living space with a small kitchen bar, upgraded bathroom, and new fireplace mantel. All new finishes were specified, including wood flooring, handcrafted tile, custom built-ins, quartz countertops, new lighting solutions, and a mantel to be built from fallen timber.

Addition - Green Lake Bungalow

A residential addition in the Greenlake neighborhood that included a new bathroom, a utility/laundry room, and a new clerestory window and roof that raised the height of the ceiling in the kitchen and dining room. Among the interior updates, dean alan architects specified new finishes and fixtures, new cabinetry, built-in storage, a frameless glass shower with handheld and rain shower heads, heated flooring, lighting, and window coverings. ​The project included exterior and interior design, permit and construction drawings, structural and bid coordination, and coordination with the general contractor.

Remodel - Cristalla Condo Residence

dean alan architects assisted a client who was looking to create a more open floor plan for social gathering in his downtown Seattle condo amid other improvements. Sliding panels replaced the wall separating the underutilized guest bedroom from the living room and a Murphy bed allows the bedroom to still function when needed. When not in use, the bedroom is now an extension of the living room. A new built in desk workstation and an improved closet space were also designed.

Remodel - Wallingford Residence

A residential remodel in the Wallingford neighborhood that included an updated kitchen and breakfast nook. Among the changes were the addition of a new recycling chute to the outside, a new laundry chute to the basement, redesigned kitchen layout, new cabinetry and finishes, new built-ins and open shelving for storage, a soffit for additional lighting, and increased ventilation and insulation/heating. dean alan architects provided interior design, construction drawings, and initial bid assistance.
