Sandpoint Custom

Aug 2012

This masterfully designed custom in Sandpoint embodies true mixed genre design. The exterior reflects more Northwest traditional craftsmanship integrated with modern accent materials of steel, aluminum and paneled siding. The owner/architect utilized the entire lot efficiently and effectively to provide a beautiful sunken patio backyard, focusing great detail in materials selection including: Brazilian hardwood decking, integral colored smooth finished concrete with perfect symmetry, and a 7? tall smooth-faced CMU concrete block masonry fire feature to warm the private space of the backyard. The primary house is nearly 4000 SF, with an additional 1000 SF. Detached Dwelling Unit (DADU) serving as both office and a secondary residence. The interior is beautifully designed and constructed with modern finishes, custom cabinetry, European quartz counter-tops and stainless steel accents. The master bathroom commands notice with over-sized jetted soaking tub, glass framed shower enclosure and gorgeous tile work. Schenkar Construction worked closely with the owner/architect to craft the landscaping and surrounding grades to create flush transitions from the interior to the exterior. The primary feature is the 16' clear span opening from living room to deck via the custom-made La Cantina fold-back door. The Swedish finish oak hardwoods flow out onto the Brazilian hardwood deck and down to the patio niche. The black anodized aluminum windows maintain a sleek modern appearance that adds character to the exterior. The project was completed in under six months! We are proud to present additional examples of our work, introduce increased street appeal to the neighborhood and provide a lifetime home for our clients to enjoy!

Lakehouse

Jul 2006

The Lake House was built for one of our clients whose design concept incorporated a variety of mediums including: steel, glass and concrete in order to create a state of the art fully automated eco-friendly masterpiece. This ultra-modern home sits on a steep hillside along side the lapping waves of Lake Washington, it is prone to both landslides and flooding. Now add, a complicated design, unique structural engineering and you have a project that requires nothing less than creative pragmatism. On Riviera Place, at the edge of Lake Washington, a new home now stands ready for its owner, a modern testament to the fact that these challenges can be effectively addressed and delivered.

Mt. Baker Project

Oct 2008

This particular home was constructed in the late 1800's set on the hill side of the Mt. Baker neighborhood overlooking Lake Washington. A unique blend of stone, marble, brick with vintage mill-work, original oak flooring and turn of the century architectural charm. Due to differential settlement, the foundation was sinking and we were asked to set the foundation and aesthetically re-level the home. This project also included an "extensive" interior remodel, including: New kitchen, bathroom, restoration of the hardwood floors, cedar deck, lath and plaster restoration and painting, driveways and hard-scaping around the perimeter. Our clients waited for years to find construction group capable of delivering all of these services. Schenkar Construction Design/Build was very proud to be chosen by our clients to restore this beautiful home.
