Columbia City Sensory Garden | Jan 2014 | For this client we were asked to create a sensory garden that would also attract hummingbirds and other wildlife into the backyard. The client is blind, and would need many elements to help her locate her way around the steeply sloped backyard. We regraded the slope and added railings to make travel gentler, as well as created footpaths of crushed gravel, woodchips, and moss for different areas in the yard. Edibles, natives, and herbs were heavily used, which we divided into separate areas of the garden. Different chimes picked up from the Re-Store and Goodwill will help differentiate the beds using both sound and touch. We also used many plants in the garden that would be nice to feel such as Lamb's ear and Spiralis. A rock wall was also constructed to shore up underneath the deck and provide a more pleasing focal point while sitting on the patio. | Seattle, WA
Rock Wall for Judkins Park P-Patch | Nov 2013 | The Parks Department is in the process of doing a few updates to the Judkins Park P-Patch. They contracted us to build a wall along the lower edge of the P-patch for easier accessibility. | Seattle, WA
Creative Carpentry work in Lake Washington Neighborhood | Oct 2013 | Our clients near Lake Washington wanted an arbor leading to their small backyard, a creative trellis design to provide privacy from the neighbors driveway which is right next to their living room window, as well as a free lending library in the front yard in which neighbors could easily exchange books. | Seattle, WA
Shoreline Triple Raingarden Installation | Sep 2013 | This client wanted us to create a double rain garden in the front yard, with a small raingarden in the back near their garage. They requested us to reuse several of the existing plants in the yard, while adding plants that would match the exterior look and feel of the home. Our designer came up with a lovely plan for graveled pathways leading to the front door and around each side of the house, as well as many features that accentuated the existing features of the home. With the RainWise program, a significant portion of the labor and materials was rebated back to the client. | Seattle, WA
Backyard Make-over | Jun 2013 | The client wanted to create a more intimate space in the backyard for entertaining, relaxing, and a variety of seasonal plantings. Since the backyard started out as grass, and was not usable much during the rainy season, the client requested a stone patio and walkway in which to make the areas of the yard more accessible and attractive. | Seattle, WA
Backyard Re-Design with a Rain garden and Arbor | Jun 2012 | For this project, our client wanted to create a more intimate backyard space than their existing lawn. They also wanted better access from the front yard to the backyard, as well as a small brick patio for summer enjoyment. | Seattle, WA |
