Cedar Deck

Jun 2014

Removed an existing deck and built a cedar deck. We also repaired the rotted siding, rim plate, and double doors. The original deck had been secured to the house without installing a metal flashing resulting in water seeping into the siding and door base creating wood rot. We install metal flashing to keep water infiltration from happening. We also set 12"x36" concrete piers and attach a metal post base then set the support posts on the bases instead of setting them in the ground and pouring concrete around them. This keeps the posts from rotting. All of our decks are constructed using coated deck screws and Timberlock structural screws where needed. All of our decks are built to code.

Deck and wheelchair ramp

Apr 2014

Built a deck and wheelchair ramp. The deck was built using treated lumber supported by 6'x6' posts set on 12'x36' deep piers and steel post bases. The structural portion of the deck was fastened with Timberlock structural screws the remainder was secured using deck screws. By using screws it keeps the boards from loosening as the deck ages. My client called me the day after I finished there deck in a panic. Her husband was having a foot surgery the next day. She thought he was going to be able to get around with crutches, not the case he was going to be in a wheelchair for eight weeks. We bought the material and built the wheelchair ramp that day. He returned home the next day and was able to access his home.
