Adam was contracted to remove bushes from our back yard and replace rotting wooden beams that were bordering the yard. He suggested we replace the beams with stone blocks, and I agreed based on the aesthetics and the added lifespan. While the work in the yard was fine, the wall was unacceptable. No effort was made to level the ground before placing the blocks, leading to the wall leaning dramatically in places. The blocks were also not placed flush, leaving large gaps throughout the wall. I brought up these concerns, and he did come out a second time, but did not level the wall properly. Some additional fill material was placed in the worst spots, but that was it. I requested a refund of the labor since I would need to have the wall rebuilt and did not trust that it would be done properly at this point, but he refused to refund any of the labor costs. Additionally, he overestimated the number of blocks required for the wall by about 100%, quoted the materials cost based on that estimate, and then delivered fewer blocks than quoted (estimated 250 blocks, wall has ~120, and I have ~70 leftover). I have since begun removing the wall myself, and found that the liner and blocks were placed right on top of the old stones that were in the bed, proving that there was no attempt to install the wall properly.
