Geosits Landscaping Update | Oct 2014 | This project required an extensive cleanup before any new landscaping could be installed. We removed all unwanted plants and re-edged the beds before installing a variety of plants chosen by the homeowner. | $10k | Schnecksville, PA
Schreffler Wall Project | Sep 2014 | This client had several old landscaping beds framed in with rotting timbers. We removed the timbers, reshaped the beds, built up block retaining walls, and installed drainage stone. We also overlaid the concrete patio with pavers to create a flat and even front entranceway. This project won the "Best Hardscaping Up To $20,000" award in the 24th annual Lehigh Valley Builders Association awards gala. | Allentown, PA
Gallo Landscaping | Aug 2014 | This project integrated a lot of different landscaping elements to surround the client's newly installed pool area. We used a large array of plant material in this project to add color and texture. Many of these plants were very unique as per the homeowners request. We also installed arborvitae for privacy and sod for immediate use. For this phase, we worked closely with the client on plant placement to ensure they were completely happy with the final product. Next, we installed the hardscaping. We used natural boulders around the pavilion to secure the area and bring it up to grade. One of the many challenges of this project was that the homeowner had recently had a fence installed that didnt allow for access from any large equipment. Because of this, we had to hand-carry all trees, boulders, and stones. Next, we installed two natural stone pads for the fireplace and seating area. We also installed stepping stone walkways to both sheds and entrances. We used river rock in two colors to outline and bring to life the planting spaces. Finally, we installed privacy panels around the pool pump. This project won the award for "Best Landscaping Up To $20,000" in the 24th annual Lehigh Valley Builders Association awards gala. | Whitehall, PA
Hilarczyk Deck & Patio | Sep 2013 | This client contacted us because they had a home in a new development with a large, totally blank canvas in their backyard. They wanted a multi-level deck and patio that would feel modern but also incorporate some natural elements. We started by creating a level pad to build the lower patio. After this was completed, we began work on the construction of the deck. We used non-wood decking, called Nylodeck, to reduce maintenance and lengthen the life of the deck. The homeowner opted to use a rich dark brown material for the decking with white accents and railings to give the deck a clean, modern feel. We installed LED lights in both sets of steps, as well as all of the piers, which added elegance. In addition, it allowed easier use for evening entertaining. This deck brings a functional and relaxing place for entertaining, as well as allowing for a grand view of the property from the top floor. After the deck was completed, we began work on the lower patio. For this phase, we used large, natural boulders to raise the elevation and keep water out of the basement. We then backfilled this area with pea gravel to create a comfortable lower seating area with a natural feel. We finished the patio with a curved, flat stone retaining wall that gives the area under the deck a finished look. This wall was built on a footer base. We blocked up the area and finished it with fascia stone. | Nazareth, PA
Dinardo Outdoor Living Space | May 2012 | These clients contacted us because they wanted to create a grand and sophisticated area for entertaining on their property. This project revolved around one main focal point a large, custom fireplace but also allowed access to multiple areas in the backyard and home. This involved creating several walkways, all meeting at one point and leading to the large central patio with the fireplace. We began with an extensive process of grading and drainage. The most difficult part of the project was the natural swale where the patio had to be placed. The overly saturated ground made the area very difficult to compact for stone installation. We resolved this problem by installing two perforated pipes, pitched away from the house. By taking the time to install these, we allowed the water to drain out under the patio. Had we not installed drainage, the area would have retained water, causing the patio to fail. After installing the walkways, we moved on to the most important part of the project the large hardscaped patio and fireplace. A footer was poured here to support the substantial weight of the fireplace. We then installed concrete boxes for the understructure of the fireplace and seating area and covered it with veneer stone to give it a natural and traditional look. The fireplace contains custom, built-in storage for firewood, as well as seating to accommodate a large group. The seating area and firewood storage were capped in simulated flagstone to match the patio and walkways. The fireplace mantle was hand-built using 150-year-old barn wood. | Bethlehem, PA |
