About Spicewood Metalworks
Spicewood Metalworks has been a long-time vision of owner, Jonathan Unnasch. Jonathan grew up on a farm/ranch near Austin, TX surrounded by a family of welders and later joined the United States Marine Corps. Enjoying a career as an IT consultant for more than 20 years, Jonathan has worked hard throughout his life. Combining his welding and computer skills, his desire was to create good, quality, custom, metal products which are beautiful and long-lasting. Spicewood Metalworks is the fruition of that desire.

Around 2016 I attempted to contract a stair rail, but the Spicewood wanted me to accept 100% responsibility without allowing design input. I passed. Last year, I gave Spicewood a shot a copying a balcony and they did a pretty good job. That was followed with another easy stair rail and they did a pretty good job with a fair price. I started talking with them 11/20 about another balcony. The bid was due 12/15. Delay after delay, excuse after excuse, missed bid dates and appointments: the mom called me 02/04 to tell me that they were too busy for the easy job. Preston, the son, is pretty easy to work with, the mom is very difficult for me to tolerate.
