Alderwood has recently completed a backyard landscaping project for us. It has been a fantastic experience working with the Alderwood team, starting with the landscape architects Tim and Johnny throughout the design process and the follow-ups during the construction. The construction crew led by Patrick & Drew did a wonderful job to bring the beautiful design to life. Everyone made sure the customer is the top priority and addressed any questions/concerns right away. I highly recommend Alderwood, Tim Glass and the team!

We contracted with Alderwood to provide landscaping on a new property. From conception to planning to execution, they were professional, visionary, efficient and helpful. The result speaks for itself. It is better than we imagined and we will be using them for all of our future projects. An A+ company.

We did a major backyard renovation that included a new large patio, a gorgeous pond and waterfall and an awesome putting green. We were so happy we selected Alderwood Landscaping to do the work. They were consummate professionals from start to finish. Our landscape architect Bryan, the manager of the job, Johnny, and Patrick, who was onsite daily to keep us on schedule were all tremendous to work with. I highly recommend Alderwood and their great team!

We needed to completely redo / renovate our front and backyard and reached out to Alderwood. Tim Glass was incredible in capturing our thoughts, ideas and our desires for use and maintenance. Not only was he professional but extremely responsive and followed through on all commitments. He’s funny too and gelled well with our personalities. Let’s be clear, Alderwood is a “design build” company and thus you pay a premium for their work. Which is what we needed as we did not want to manage such a large complicated project. And the quality, service, and outcome reflects that. Our end results are absolutely stunning and exactly what we envisioned. Jonathan, our PM was equally responsive and professional. Especially when we had questions about some selections of stone, etc. It was important to both Tim and Jonathan that we were happy with our choices and met us the stone place for selections. This is even after we selected flag stones and they arrived and I realized they would not fit our overall look. Not a peep from the team and the stones were returned and we selected new ones. The crew who worked on our site; Jordan, Nate, and Marvin were amazing. Showed up each day (Many days in pouring rain) with a smile as we walked through the project every morning for status and next steps. They ensured everything was exactly what we wanted. Answered all my questions and moved and changed even the smallest little adjustments. They were prompt and cleaned up the job site every day to perfection. They too were funny and a great crew to be around. They were respectful and professional throughout. We can highly recommend Alderwood to anyone who are thinking about a complete new yard or modifications to an existing space. Ours included, patios, fire pit, boulders and outcroppings, and landscaping / planting. We absolutely love it.

Modern Art | Jan 2014 | This modern project began with some creative ideas to blend the landscape with the ultra-modern home. Our landscape architect worked closely with the homeowner to build a custom design that involved a "floating concrete" walkway over a new formal water feature. Rows of ornamental grasses and columnar teees help frame the architecture and lend to the modern / geometric feel of the residence. A dry-creek-bed runs underneath a staircase that leads to the back yard where a fire pit is the primary centerpiece. Again in the back yard, ornamental grasses line the foundation wall of the home, and help define the space. A gas fire pit area on the back hillside makes an excellent centerpiece for the large back yard. The secondary areas of the back yard are framed by a low-growing native grass mix that will bend with the wind late in the year. A natural granite boulder staircase connects the residence with the road below, and a garden area with corten steel raised planter beds flanks the home on the south. At the end of the day, this modern home deserved a landscape to compliment the unique character it brings to the neighborhood. Our creative use of plantings, rock work, night lighting, moving water, and fire helped to round-out the project and put the finishing touches on this amazing project. | $150k | Spokane, WA
Mountainside Retreat | Jun 2013 | This project involved a transformation of a back-yard over-looking a private golf course in Spokane. Our process began with designing a new deck area, outdoor kitchen, custom gunite water feature, fire pit area, hot tub / lounge patio, and connection to front yard. Under the direction of our landscape architect, our crew artfully placed boulders to retain soil, created new living terraces, re-shaped the back yard, created privacy with plantings and re-worked the deck area outside the back door. Truly an amazing outdoor oasis / resort right outside our client's back door. | $135k | Spokane, WA
5-Mile Stunner | Jun 2010 | This uniuqe landscape includes a custom gunite swimming pool with laminar jets, stamped concrete pool deck, granite boulder retaining walls, custom cedar pergola, small gunite water feature, tiki torches, layered hillside plantings, and sod / lawn areas. A level terrace was created for the swimming pool by calculating cut and fill, and establishing grades through the use of boulder retaining walls. The pool was installed by a local pool builder, and the landscape was then completed to compliment the built elements on-site. | $250k | Spokane, WA
Spokane River Escape | Jun 2010 | This multi-phase project included several landscape elements during the evolution of the property and home. The property includes two custom gunite water features (one next to a gas fire pit, one adjacent to the front door, visible as guests approach the home). Open park-like lawn areas help to soften the front yard and allow for yard games. The terraced back yard slopes down to the Spokane River, and includes various outdoor seating areas, a second fire pit (over-looking the river), paver pathways, low voltage night lighting, natural boulder staircases, and layered plantings. Additional phases included paver walkways, perimeter privacy plantings, and landscaping of a neighboring property. Thanks to our wonderful clients who have given us the opportunity to work with them to develop this amazing property on the river. | $250k | Spokane Valley, WA
Resort Style | Jun 2010 | This project began careful site-planning and creative landscape design techniques to develop a custom design for the property. Under the guidance of our landscape architect, our crew installed a series of cascading waterfalls, meandering creeks, and relaxing pools of water. the unique water feature culminates in a large koi pond, then is re-circulated. Below the koi pond, the water appears to spill into a custom gunite swimming pool (although the water is actually kept separate). Lush plantings, amazing lawn areas, and creative boulder placements help to frame this amazing property. | $500k | Coeur D Alene, ID
Twigs North Spokane | Oct 2007 | Twiggs Bistro & Martini Bar in Wandemere, WA is defined by it's unique architecture & styling, it's great food & drink menu, and of-course it's one-of-a-kind patio. During the development phase of this project, Alderwood was brought-in to oversee design and construction of a custom centerpiece for the high-end commercial development. The design involved an expansive man-made lake including multiple focal-point water features with cascading water to combat traffic noise from nearby highway 395. The design team also included bermed planting beds with carefully placed plantings to filter views to the highway. During the summer of 2007, Alderwood's team of construction experts built the lake and surrounding landscaping to compliment the development. Twiggs Bistro's patio on the south end of the lake is one of the best locations to appreciate the scope of the project. The amazing waterfalls, lake, and surrounding landscaping make the patio a hot-spot on summer afternoons. The amazing windows on the north end of Twiggs also allow for excellent views of the flowing water from the comfort of their interior dining areas. Unlike much of our work that sits in our client's back yards (hidden from public view), this project is proudly on display and is an excellent representation of the type of amazing water features our team designs & builds all over the Northwest. | $650k | Spokane, WA
Hayden Creek Plaza | Jul 2006 | Alderwood was brought-in to develop and execute a plan to beautify this high-end commercial development. The design included multiple centerpiece waterfalls combined with lodge-style landscaping to compliment the architecture of the development. As construction began, our team of experts coordinated with multiple subcontractors and balanced a complex job site while building the unique water features that provide a dynamic focal point for the development. | $300 | Hayden, ID
Woodinville Outdoor Living | May 2023 | After completing an interior renovation that included an exterior expansion, these clients were ready for us to install a brand-new landscape area. Focusing on a bold, contemporary style to match the aesthetic of the home, our designers got right to work creating an entire outdoor living space. The homeowners wanted to better use their outdoor space to feel like an extension of their home with several separate lounge and entertaining spaces. While they desired to keep the lawn for their kids, they also wanted to ensure there were enough private areas for adults. While these factors are typical for an Alderwood project, the challenges of this landscape made the final design incredibly unique. Rather quickly, our design team learned that a large septic system ran right underneath most of the backyard. Coordinating with city workers, the building architect, and the clients, our landscape architect crafted a unique design that worked around the drain constraints and accomplished each desire on the clients' list. The final project includes a large outdoor structure with space for cooking, a swim spa, two fire pit lounge areas, and several privacy plantings. The entire project was constructed to allow easy visibility of the children playing or swimming while also offering separate "rooms" for outdoor entertaining. Our clients are thrilled with the results and the opportunity to host many gatherings - both indoors and out! | Woodinville, WA
