Steve Timmons of Avalon Air & Heating is a deeply untrustworthy man of low character, and here's a story that shows it. He sees a neighbor's home being prepped for sale, asks if he can buy before it hits the market for $189,900, then offers $160,000 with some sweet talk about how he wants it to help a needy relative. The sympathetic sellers agree to $175,000 "just for him," and their Realtor (my wife) cuts her commission to help as she won't be spending on ads, etc. Suddenly he's an angry blowhard, insulting my wife's knowledge without realizing she's one of the top individual agents in the entire region. She knows it can sell for much more, and she advised capping the list price at $189,900 only because any buyer with a loan will need an appraisal to succeed. Sure enough, a few days later she has more than a dozen offers above list price, and it sells for $211,000 cash without any need for appraisal. Our brief interaction with Steve is in the past, right? Nope. Two weeks after closing, furious again after he learns she was right and he knows a lot less about real estate than he does about sucking out drain lines, he comes back with a 1-star rating from their 10 minutes of conversation in a petulant, petty attempt to hurt her business because he turned out to be a loser. Well, back at you, Steve. I can't imagine hiring such a weak man for any work at all. -- John Vaughan

I've never heard even a single negative report on Avalon Air. I like the fact that they'll come out on weekends and not charge crazy fees.
