Horsham Deck and Roof

May 2013

These homeowners love their yard, but their deck was small, surrounded by shrubs, and unshaded in the hot, summer months. We extended the deck area, added a roof for shade, and created the perfect outdoor oasis to relax and entertain in.

Chalfont Master Suite

Jan 2013

When the homeowners purchased this home in Chalfont, Pa., the top item on their to-do list was to renovate the attic into a master bedroom suite. While charming, the stone home was significantly smaller than their previous home. Although the couple had intended to downsize, they didn't want to live in a cramped space. The unfinished attic represented the ideal area to expand into for additional square footage, without altering the cozy character of the home. The homeowners wished to convert the attic into a master bedroom suite complete with a full bathroom and ample closet space. "Harth Builders immediately understood our vision for what the space could be." - Chalfont, Pa. homeowners

Fort Washington Whole Home Remodel

Jan 2013

Since this was the childhood home of one of the homeowners, this Fort Washington, Pa. couple wanted to honor the memory of her mother, "Mimi," by keeping the core of the original home intact, while improving the approach and creating a more gracious home with modern amenities for today's needs. The first challenges were the topography, the pie-shaped lot, and getting neighbors on board. Due to the uniqueness of this lot, a variance was needed. The project entailed complete demolition of one end of the house, keeping other areas and a second floor structurally sound, while adding three completely new additions stemming off the original structure at right angles. The project entailed full interior and exterior design and remodeling. Interior walls were removed allowing in natural light and beautiful views, inside and out. Exterior changes to this property greatly enhanced the approach and property and values of the entire neighborhood.

Dresher First Floor

Dec 2012

This home consists of two renovations completed in back to back years. First we renovated the first floor interior space, and the following year we tackled the exterior. First, the original floor plan of this 20-year-old development home prevented the homeowners from living the way they wanted to. The dining room and living room were cut off and never used. The kitchen seemed large enough but used space poorly. These passionate cooks and hosts had consulted numerous contractors and kitchen designers in the past, but none of the ideas they had seen excited them. Open concept plans removed valuable wall space needed for large appliances and cabinetry and left them with either an awkward work triangle or bulky suspended range hood between rooms . With the right design and "outside the box" thinking, we executed a functional and aesthetically pleasing kitchen they love and will enjoy for many years to come. Next, the homeowners' backyard deck was weathered and showing signs of wear. It required ongoing maintenance and they rarely used it due to size and shape limitations, and it was difficult to access. Safety issues were a primary concern for entertaining and supporting a crowd of people. With the challenge of a steep grade and a fixed budget, we set out to design & build a backyard retreat that was structurally exceptional, had good flow for foot traffic, a grill and furnishings, lighting for entertaining day and evening, and could endure harsh winter elements.

Harleysville Kitchen

Jan 2012

Descendants of the Rittenhouse family have resided in their stately farmhouse for eleven consecutive generations. The original construction of their home took place between 1718 and 1775. Over time, the home has evolved with the needs of the family. Various additions and renovations have been made, including several kitchen iterations. Last updated in 1960, the kitchen is located at the rear of the home. It is nearest to the garage and driveway and serves as the main entry point for both family and guests. Typical of older homes, the kitchen was dark, cramped, and lacked many modern conveniences. The constant foot traffic through the tight galley-style kitchen made meal preparation and entertaining chaotic. The kitchen also offered an unattractive view directly into the laundry room. Suffice to say the room had its fair share of challenges. When their refrigerator leaked and damaged the floor, it was the proverbial 'last straw' which prompted the homeowners to begin plans for a renovation.
