My neighbor contracted to have 9 trees taken down at a cost of $1,800. This was to include removal of all the brush and logs. When I saw the tree cutting going on, I asked if they would remove 2 trees that we’re on my property, but hanging over said neighbors pool and house. I thought $400 was a fair price considering that’s what my neighbor paid per tree. I also said I would take ALL of the wood from my neighbors AND my trees out myself. This saved Zack’s dozens of man-hours of labor. When my neighbor asked for some kind of discount, since Zack’s was saving $$$ by not having to remove the logs from their agreed upon 9 trees, he was rebuffed. He was told that I was given a discount on the 2 trees that I had removed since they could use their property to reach them. Now, obviously, had my neighbor simply said the 2 trees I added in were his to begin with, one should assume the price would have been $200/tree (with removal of ALL of the brush and logs). I think a decent discount should have been given to my neighbor considering Zack’s didn’t need to fulfill their initial agreed upon work. In the end, Zack’s saved a lot of labor cost, but refused to pass it onto the customer. I got what I paid for, but my neighbor didn’t. In the rating system, 1 star is poor and 2 is fair... I wish there was a 1.5.
