New Home Rekey

Feb 2017

This was a simple rekey of a home that our customer had just closed on. They purchased the home from a local builder as a new construction property. The builder provided keys at the closing, but in the final days of construction there were multiple contractors in and out of the home to complete the work. There was a lot of uncertainty about how many keys had been handed out, and if there were copies made. So we simply changed the pins in the existing locks to fit new keys that we originated, therefor making the old keys useless. For about $130.00 we provided 4 new keys, rekeyed all 5 of the locks in the home, and adjusted a few doors that did not close properly. Our customer was pleased to know that they were the only ones with keys to their new castle!

Common Sense Hardware Installation

Nov 2015

What is holding your doors closed? Doors are secured by a strike plates on the jamb where the door closes into the frame. Most doors are only held in by 3/4" screws and those don't even get back into the framing of your home. When a door is only secured with standard screws it is easily kicked in. As much as I like to install a nice heavy deadbolt with a high security keyway, it won't be any match for a thug with a good front kick. You've got to secure the strike plates! Certified Lock & Security will ensure that the strike plates on your doors are secured to the framing BEHIND the door frame. This greatly increases the strength of your door, and helps to resist kick ins. In certain situations we may recommend an extended plate that acts as an armor over the length of the strike side of a door. Like the various systems of a vehicle work together to get you where you want to go, all components of your security plan have to be thought out and in place to offer the most protection.
