Aurelius Construction

I believe that we were the first customer when the owner of Aurelius launched his LLC. As he lived in our neighborhood, and we have a philosophy of helping out community members and small business owners, we decided to risk it. This was potentially the WORST decision we have made in our marriage. We should have known, by the number of times he asked us to trust him, that something was off. Similarly to the other review, we couldn't count on him and his crew showing up in any consistent way. There were numerous delays; missed deadlines; requests for $ outside of our agreed upon payment schedule; etc. When the felt had FINALLY been installed, we went for almost two weeks before the roofing began and in that period, there was an unexpected storm, resulting in flooding throughout the ceiling of the first floor of our house. At that point, we discovered that the insurance that he had obtained was NOT the correct kind for the LLC he had set up; the dates for his coverage did not cover the beginning of our project; it was inadequate for the ten's of thousands of dollars of damage that occurred. And, for all intents and purposes, at that point, he disappeared. HIs "crew" had not been paid by him for weeks as he apparently had been juggling multiple projects and essentially robbing Peter to pay Paul both with payments from customers AND WITH MATERIALS!. As other neighbors were having their roof repaired at the same time as ours was being replaced, it was very easy to discover that much of our roofing material ended at their place, to cover that project, while he was waiting to put together enough cash to buy more supplies for ours, and vice versa. Despite his crew not being paid, we had developed a very good relationship with them, so they continued to come and work on our project. We ended up paying them, though. After consultation with our own insurance company AND our lawyer, we decided that it would end up costing us more money to pursue him legally, although we were advised that not only did we have a strong civil case, but a possible criminal one. Clearly, he was /is judgement proof as far as assets are concerned, so we decided to walk away and count this as a horrible lesson re trusting people.

worst contracting experience I have ever had to deal with. Inconsistent on the job. work a few hours then disappear for a few days. Always an excuse when actually he had to many obligations going on. Had 3 very small bathrooms tiled. That took 22 days with all of them being worked on at once instead of finish one then another. And there are still little things that did not get done. Not good at detail. And we were even totally gone 4 days that we were told they would be done. We were also having our small kitchen/dinning room tiled. Was going to go with someone else but was guaranteed it would get full attention. this turned into a 3 week fiasco with the tile needing to be pulled up twice to finally get it right. The third time laying tile I had to hire someone else to come in and finish the job after spending a few days saying WTF and threatening to get someone else to finish the job he shows up on the job with a helper and put in for the first time several hours but the tiles where completely disproportionately laid. Didn't see anyone for four days again. That's when I called someone else in and sent a text saying your off the job, I'm canceling the last check (which was extra money just because I felt sorry for him)come and get your stuff. The next day some random stranger showed up and said "I'm here to finish your kitchen." NOT. One more thing. When vacating the premises after working. Tools, trash what ever it may be is just left sitting right where it was. In the middle of your kitchen floor, kitchen counters, right on the back steps for your animals and you to walk through and all the grout water was pored on my grass or my rock/decorative grass area. The check that I canceled I guess was cashed at MoneyTree. They called me to pay for it. I said I would not. Text the guy and told him to take care of it that I work to hard for my credit to be affected by him and he basically laughed at me and said he didn't give a #@&* about my credit.
