My wife and I appreciate the small mom and pop shop and are always willing to give the home-brew farmers market, the local family-owned restaurant, or any little guy a chance. We heard about SCCS through a recommendation from an exceptional environmental clean-up team and figured this would be our chance to give the little guy a chance to do some work on our house. Jaime, who claimed to be the part-owner of the business showed a lot of know-how and was well versed with what needed to be done and ensured us that he and his team would get things done right, the first time, and on time. And then he promptly left and didn't return for almost a month for business in some other state. He left his brother Carlos in charge while he was gone, and unfortunately, Carlos has no idea what he is doing. Let me remind you that he is the supposed President of this company. Jaime entrusted our home to someone with zero knowledge of the job or with any sort of supervisory/technical skills, who in turn entrusted our home to random subcontractors with varying degrees of skill, some of which had no clue what THEY were doing. You're probably asking yourself, why would a contractor such as SCCS hire other people to do their work? Because they are circumventing workers compensation laws by having no REAL employees, only officers, because they are too cheap to pay for qualified labor and try to cut corners at all cost, and because they do not care what kind of work they produce. Needless to say their labor pool was full of rejects and screw ups who left behind garbage, damage to our property, and work so poor that much of it had to be repeated at their expense. The best part of all this? They refused to produce any ledger explaining their costs, refused to place a bid, and continually tried to lie their way out of the things they were doing instead of owning up to the problems they created by trying to convince us, the homeowners, that the poor work they did was standard from most companies like them. SCCS gives contractors a bad name in general, and their officers and ownership are shameful, lying, deceitful, petty, argumentative, hard-headed ignorant fools who are only interested in the paycheck and will swindle your hard-earned money if you let them into your home. Don't believe me? Look into their history, and follow the contractors license which should be voided by the state as soon as possible. They have had disputes with homeowners before, and they have had lost claims levied against them that they have refused to pay. Go figure, I did mention they were cheap, right? My advice? Do not work with these people. Do NOT let them near your home, and do not believe their assurances that they will do any job correctly or in a timely fashion. If you are foolish enough to let them onto your property, take pictures of everything, keep records, force them into signing contracts that make them responsible for EVERYTHING you care about, because they will do their very best to half-ass the work and send you a bill.
