This review of Chuck's Painting LLC will hopefully alert others to the apparent negligence of Chuck the owner and avoid delays and downtime by seeking services elsewhere. To back up my claims I keep detailed notes and have witnesses to our phone conversations. In April 2023 we had a channel drain system installed around our pool. A friend referred Chuck to us to resurface our pool deck. Apparently, Chuck’s Painting also provides this service. Chuck came out to look at the project and gave me an estimate that was acceptable based on current standards for Kool Deck resurfacing. After the channel drain job was complete, I called Chuck to inform him that we had accepted his bid. He told me that the concrete needed to cure for 30 days prior to installing a new Kool Deck. During our conversation Chuck informed me that he would be on vacation after the 30-day cure period and so June 12th would be the day that he could start the job. He stated that he needed a $150 deposit to secure the appointment date. I marked this date on my calendar during our conversation and immediately put a $150 check in the mail. Chuck cashed the check on May 9th securing my appointment date for June 12th. As June 12th approached, I did not hear from Chuck regarding the job. I texted him on Monday morning of June 12th asking what time his crew would be at my home. He called and acted like he did not know who I was. Then after a brief conversation he remembered and then claimed that he lost the paperwork. He said that he must have stapled it to another job and filed it. He then asked me if I could postpone it another week. When I pushed back on that he said that he would see if he could find the paperwork and see what he could do. I informed him that I still have the paperwork. He called back a short time later and said that he could have a crew there Wednesday morning and that should make me happy. I agreed and at that time he asked me for my address which I gave him. He informed me that his crew would be here at 6:30 a.m. sharp. We ended the call with a "see you Wednesday" closure. On Wednesday morning I received a text from Chuck saying that they would be there on Thursday, June 15th and that his crew had not finished the job the previous day. When the text came in, my phone flashed a short preview of the text which I read that they would not be here until Thursday. Later that day I opened the text and read it in its entirety which Chuck wanted me to confirm our address. I thought this was strange because I had just given him the address two days prior. So, when I read the text Wednesday evening, I sent him our address again on June 14th. On Thursday morning I was up and had the gate open and waiting for his crew. They did not show up. I texted Chuck at 6:40 a.m. asking him what time his crew would be here and got no answer. I texted him again at 7:25 a.m. and still no answer. I called him at 7:44 a.m. and left a message and then he returned my call at 7:49 a.m. When I answered his call, he was angry, raising his voice, and accused me of "blowing up his phone". Apparently, he was angry because, according to him, I did not respond to his text the previous day in a timely manner. He proceeded to put the blame on me for his crew not being on the job due to my "irresponsibility". He then stated that he had me written in for June 12th AND July 3rd and expressed confusion as to why both dates were scheduled. He then concluded that July 3rd was a backup date. This was never discussed with me. As a result, he angrily said he was canceling the job and refunding my deposit that evening of which I was already intending to do due to his negligence, poor customer service, excuses and delays. As of June 24th, I had not received my deposit of $150. I sent a text to Chuck asking him how long I needed to wait before I receive my deposit refund. His text response was: "Send me your address I did mention I miss placed your paper work Thank you". I'm not sure if the delay was due to his negligence or spite. So, I sent him my address for the third time in 2 weeks. On the morning of June 25th, I sent him a text requesting that he send me a confirmation text when the check has been sent. At 1:48 in the afternoon Chuck calls me and wants to know how to spell my last name. I complied, then he asks: "first name 'Dave?'" I respond: "yes that's my name but 'David' is the name that is on the account". His comes back with: "I'll write what I want to write! Your check will be in the mail tomorrow morning." and then hangs up on me. I finally received my refund on June 28th. I don't understand this man's animosity and bitterness toward me. The fact is he created this situation himself and has conveniently placed the blame on me. Chuck makes a lot of excuses and avoids accepting responsibility for his mistakes. The bottom line is I have done nothing wrong and I fully expected Chuck's Painting LLC to fulfill their obligation as agreed, but due to his losing my paperwork and not having my scheduled dates written in and then after I gave him my address on Monday asks for me to reconfirm my address one more time and then cancels the job using my delayed response as an excuse to place the blame on me rather than accept responsibility for his own negligence. This whole debacle was caused by his actions (or inactions). His in-your-face behavior is a good indication of how you would be treated if you found a problem with his work. He responds with excuses, bitterness, anger, and doesn't take responsibility for his mistakes. I'm sure I'm not the first to encounter his abusive behavior. I'm glad things worked out this way after seeing his true colors. I have hired a much better contractor that has great customer service, better prices and much, much better reviews.

I hired Chuck's Painting to paint the exterior of my home. They did a really good job, very efficient, clean and orderly. Pricing was very reasonable. Would hired again. Also referred him to my daughter as well.

We just had half our interior painted by Chuck's Painting and will definitely have him come back and paint the other half. He and his crew are very efficient. Highly recommend them.

I will NEVER do business with Chuck's painting! While driving in Surprise WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR an employee (who I assume to be the owner) nearly ran me off the road while he was driving wrecklessly! I called the number on the truck window and an incredibly rude gentleman answered, refused to give his name, cursed at me, and showed no remorse for nearly causing a wreck! If the character (rather, lack their of) of their staff is any indication of the way they do business, this is NOT a company to give your business to! - Surprise Resident, Entrepreneur, & Appalled father
