Steve never finished our project after being paid! Never called after being sick! Do not do business with him!

Is there negative number for star rating? I don't even know where to start. Stephen is only good for jobs that take 30-45min. He was recommended by my realtor. He was suppose to turn my garage into a hangout space with a small kitchenette. Everything he touched was or went wrong later, on top of the very high price. He would bounce around a lot of other jobs and I never knew when he's going to show up. He installed a sink that caused leaking in my bathroom, he used a gas pipe to do the grounding and he put it right in the middle of my crawl basement (he's excuse was he didn't have enough wire), he installed a barn door that now is coming off the wall, he connected the cooktop with wires straight in to the outlet, he didn't even put a plug on it and it was not even in the wall. He used stuff that is used for a washer and dryer (getto AF plus dangerous), he put some wholes in my AC vent thinking that it will blow hot and cold. No! (Did not ask me, I was going to put a window unit) It only made my AC bill go trough the roof. Every single outlet is sideways or upside down and is coming off the wall, blinds wrong, the screws were sticking out. I can go on and on about it. He built a bar table, it was so high I couldn't find bar stools for it. (No experience for sure) My dad came and fixed it. Also, he went on 2 vacations while my project. It's none of my business, but that says a lot. All he says is that he stands behind his work. I made him follow a claim trough his Insuarance, I got some money for the leak in the bathroom, but unfortunately the Insuarance doesn't cover the quality of his work. I'm coming after you Stephen! I'm not letting this go! You thought that it will be a easy case with a young inexperienced girl. You thought wrong!

This is an addition to the review I wrote on 5/3/2016. Stephen finally found enough time to come by to see the tile work. He said himself that it seemed like Drew didn't stir the grout enough which likely was the cause of the inconsistent coloring. Stephen gave my wife and I a of couple options to "make it right", we chose the less time consuming method and I left it up to Stephen to determine the value of the blemished work. We agreed on terms and I was satisfied. Stephen has told me that Drew no longer works for him. Stephen does good work, is very busy which is both good and bad. As a home owner, you want things done right away, but you should probably be weary of those handymen that have lots of time available. This review correction should have been written a few months back and i owed it to Stephen as I stated I would do so in my first review.

Back in February 2016, on the community social network site, Nextdoor, someone in my area asked for a referral for a good tile layer. I had recently gotten my guest bathroom floors done and the master bathroom needed to be done. Sterling Perfection was suggested. I did some researched and liked what I saw. Locally owned and operated, great feed back and pictures from previous jobs. Everything looked good. Stephen Sterling was quick to respond, even coming out the next day that I called which happened to be on a Sunday. I was immediately impressed. Stephen sent me a quote that week, I thought it was fair, I did not negotiate, we stuck to what he asked. It wasn't a large job but I told him that I would have a few things that would need to be done around the house and my hiring of his wouldn't end here with the tile work. I told Stephen how the previous guys that did my other bathroom were supposed to do this one and that they just no showed and stopped taking my calls. I hadn't paid them so that was fine but Stephen goes on to say that it isn't the first time he has heard that and said it happens because companys want the large jobs. Anyway, things were looking good. A day or two before the install, I find out Stephen is sick and in the hospital so he sent someone I can only assume he trusts by the name of Drew. Drew worked his a$$ off based on the sounds of breaking tile and such going on but the finished product wasn't great. I waited the suggested 2-3 days for settling before I contact Stephen and told him about the inconsistent coloring of the grout and the caulk work that was streaky. Stephen says he is in the hospital and he'll correct it. fast forward a few weeks. I am getting anxious, wife is not pleased because of the uneven colored grout, it forever looks like it is dirty, but it is obviously not. He says he will come out mid-April to take a look. So I contact him on or around the 17th of April, says he will come on that Sunday, doesn't specifiy a time but he lives in the area so I thought he would just swing by to look at it. He no shows. I have been nothing but understanding and patient. Even offering my thoughts for a speedy recovery from whatever was ailing him. So I reach back out last week, he says he will contact me on Thursday to set a time for Friday or Saturday. No attempt has been made to reach me. He might be sick, he might not, he claims to stand behind his work. He was obviously very anxious to get my money for the job even though he was "sick" and now can't seem to find 5-10 mins to take a look at what is subpar work from a supposed reputable place. If he actually comes around, I will gladly edit my review but until then, I will be posting this review on all the sites that I can. I have email and text correspondence that can verify my claims made here. Stephen if you see this, hope you're better.
